"Are you ready, Kathy?"
"I think so."
I take a last few more looks at my reflection. I've never dressed this formal, and this is casual clothes! I mean, I normally would have worn sweatpants and a crop top or a hoodie depending on the weather, but because I'm now part of the Bythesea family, I let Mallory and Brina pick my clothes for me. Since Mallory was discharged yesterday, she and Brina took the opportunity to buy me some new clothes and to get my place settled in before I arrive at the villa. They brought me a pair of clothes to get settled in before I leave the hospital. The fact that Brina had my measurements taken yesterday when she was visiting me before they left, makes my clothes fit perfectly around and on me. I was wearing an Ofeila Black Lace Bodysuit with a slim, single buckle, long-sleeved, short khaki blazer, a black, faux suede pencil mini skirt with black, platform ankle strap high heels. I looked crazy amazing. I've never seen myself this nice since, well, since my parents. I usually was the spitting image of them, but then it all changed.
I take one last look and enter my hospital room.
"So, what do you think?"
I turn around a few times to show Brina and Mallory how I look. They were both wearing shocked expressions.
"WOW. I never would have thought that you would look that good in those but damn, girl. Have you ever worn something like this before? Because you're killing that look! You look like you are ready to walk into a CEO office. It's just the right amount of chic and formal. LOVING IT!"
I blush at Mallory's antics as to compliment me once again. She is a sweet talker. Saying exactly how good you look in something. I like that about her.
"Thanks, Mallory. I usually wore something similar to this, but that was before my parents...before they kicked me out."
"Oh, sorry. Sore topic. I didn't mean to."
"It's really fine, Mallory. Don't worry about it. I have a new family now. You guys."
Mallory smiles at me before walking up to me and hugs me.
"And I'm glad to have you as a sister, Kathy."
"Thanks, Mal."
She breaks the embrace and smiles at me. Brina is the one to break our sisterly moment.
"Well, you look very stunning and I'm also very glad that you are part of our family now, but if we don't get going, we're going to miss it."
Mallory squeals in happiness and I stare at them puzzled.
"Miss what?"
Mallory takes my hand and almost drag me out of the room.
"You'll see. It's a surprise."
"Not again."
"Yes, Kathy, again."
Brina encourages us to continue out of the room and out of the hospital. I must say, it's been such a long time since I've worn high heels and to be honest, it's kind of hurting a little bit, but I'll get used to it eventually.
As we exit the hospital, I can finally see how the world around me looks like and not stare into four walls and out of a window showing nothing but the trees of the wood. Now I see tall skyscrapers, cars rushing to get somewhere and trees, flowers and other plants planted in the middle of the parking lot. I stare around me in awe.
"What is this place, Brina? Where are we?"
"This, my dear sister, is the capital. Welcome to capital Conti."
