A/N The picture is what I believe Asher would look like. Black hair and green eyes (brighter than in the picture). For his personality, he is pretty shy, but when you get to know him, he is as fun as can be. He is also caring and sweet but doesn't trust anyone that easily.
Now, let's move on to the story!

"Alright, everyone! Be silent, please." Mrs. Hudson stood in front of the class, trying to silence them.

It's Friday. I'm sitting in my last class of the day, English. Because it's almost weekend, everybody's focus is gone. They're all talking loudly, not having heard what the teacher said.

I was talking to my friend Sarah, but now we're both patiently waiting for everyone to shut up. And for the class to end, of course.

"Quiet, everybody!" Mrs. Hudson said with an irritated sigh.

Now, my classmates finally stopped talking. They all looked at the teacher, some with an apologetic look on their face.

"As you all know, I've been pregnant for a while," she started. "Soon, I will go on maternity leave, and you will get a substitute."

I could hear about ninety percent of the class sigh. Usually, we would like to have a substitute, but that changed after last time.

Earlier this year, our French teacher went on maternity leave and left us with a substitute. Her name was Mrs. Floquet. She was an awful teacher who couldn't keep order.

She never explained any grammar, just expected us to magically understand everything. The woman thought we would be able to 'simply' following a study guide and never told us clearly what our homework would be.

At first, I thought that it wasn't as bad as it seemed. It turned out I was wrong: where I thought Mrs. Floquet was at least kind, she wasn't. She was like an assassin. First, making everybody believe she didn't mean any harm, and then when anyone stood just the tiniest bit in her way, she would charge at you and give you detention.

Luckily, we only had to deal with her for four months.

"He is young, but I've met him, and he makes a good teacher." Mrs. Hudson continued.

'Oh, so it's a guy. And young? Hopefully, Mrs. Hudson is right. Let's only pray that he's a kind teacher.' I thought.

"I will still be here next week, but the week after that, the substitute, Mr. Featherly, will be teaching you. I already gave him instructions about what you guys need to do and what you're not allowed to do, so don't try anything."

'We can't even try fooling him. Boring! But Featherly, huh? I wonder what he looks like.'

"Because I am your mentor, I would like to make the last appointment with each of you. When I'm gone, Mr. Featherly will be your mentor." She said while sitting down behind her desk.

"When I call your name, come to my desk with your schedule. The rest of you can do the exercises on pages 394. Sophie, can you come?"

After a while, she called my name. I went to her desk and agreed to meet on Tuesday after school.

Hi everyone! How are you liking the story so far? It's pretty short, I know, but I promise the chapters will get longer. I decided to split the first chapter up in two because it was getting a bit too long for my liking.

And don't hesitate to point out mistakes, I'm here to learn. Feedback is always welcome!

P.S. Do you guys have mentors at school? Here in the Netherlands, we do. Here, every teacher in the school (as far as I know) is a mentor. I will try to explain a little about this, for people who want to know. Every mentor is assigned to one class of 20 to 30 students, and it's their job to help you. There are at least three mandatory appointments per school year. If you want to or if it's needed, you can schedule more appointments. At those appointments, they will talk to you about school, your health, your home situation, and actually everything you want or need to talk about. If there are problems with something, they will try to help you wherever they can.

I hope that explanation was useful and accurate. If you liked this chapter, don't forget to vote and comment!

See ya next time!
