In this AU as a kid, Clara had anything a 16 year old girl could want. A nice home, a loving family, stylish clothes and an adorable miniture poodle pup. At least on the outside. Clara's mother is a drunk, often leaving the house for the a party, the club or the bar and usually comes stumbling back into the house at 2 or 3 in the morning. Her older sister was planning to move away when she turned 18, hoping to move inter state. She never made that wish a reality. Her father is pushing her into a arranged marriage with a 24 year old man named Greg. She doesn't want to and runs off into the night and ends up a william's house. Things unravel from there.

'As she stood beside her mother in her crisp black dress, she saw saw a glimmer of the person she used to be. Loving, caring, vulnerable and open. The casket lay open in front of them and as Clara gazed down at the body inside it, she felt something break. Tears stung her eyes as she realised that this was it. Her sister, the only one that had been truly there for her throughout her whole life..was gone. She turned away and fastened her gaze on a picture of a smiling family. Her sorrow turned to a bitter frustration that clawed at her from the edges. That photo had been fake. Ever since Clara had been 8, any hopes of a forever happy family began to crack until there were so many hairline cracks that it seemed as though the act could collapse at any time.
