A new beginning, Utopia the final frontier as the human race struggles to escape the end of all things, the universe is dying slowly even the planet they are on won’t last forever. She needed to hurry, reach the safe zone then, at least she would be safe from a manner of different creatures. She ran, fast. They were catching up the dogs were going to kill her. Finally she reaches it “LET ME IN! LET ME IN!” she screams desperation beginning to rise in her voice. Then suddenly her prayers were answered the door opened as Jackie Kerr makes her way towards freedom.
There were 200 people due to board the ship ‘The Expanse’ these were the last of the human race “Darn those stupid galaxies why did they have to go and collapse!”This was Professor Maya the engineer/designer of ‘The Expanse’ he was giving up his life so they could fly to paradise. The room was damp and stunk heavily of whisky and cats even though there hadn’t been any in over 1000 years.
Jackie wandered looking up and down, looking, searching. “Are you looking for someone?” she jumped at the question clearly startled by the boy’s appearance, he wasn’t much older than she was with brown hair and eyes to match. “Johnnie a friend, just a friend,” the boy nodded then set off briskly. She followed hoping she would be able to find him. Then, at last she spotted him handing out soup to the little kids, Johnnie was always like that he’d rather starve than see a child cry. They embraced each other, gave one another a long, deep, lasting kiss then, at last it was time to go.
A short while later the ship attendants handed out rations, some water and dried fruit. This was the first time she had seen Johnnie irritated as one of the infants had tried to steal his water. There wasn’t much to the ship it was very damp and had the strong aroma of mouldy cheese. They had tried to make it more inviting by adding pictures and windows, but it really just made everyone feel awkward. The pictures were of clowns and even at the end of the universe clowns still terrified people as for the windows there wasn’t much point in looking at them when the universe had pretty much collapsed. There was a shudder Jackie wasn’t worried though this meant that there were only 5 minutes to go. Four minutes to go, Jackie wondered was Utopia anything like she had imagined were there really diamonds in the sky like her mum had told her. Three minutes to go, two minutes to go, one minute to go, then with a shudder the ship landed Johnnie gave her hand a quick squeeze and together they set out into the unknown.
Jackie and Johnnie had just got off the ship the two of them gazed in horror there was a giant gate, the two of them shoved it open or at least tried to for it would not budge. They all gazed with horror this world was falling apart Utopia, what had been their last hope had failed them. The last thing they saw was the burning pits below them. The pits of hell had been opened. The end of the human race was nigh……
