'kay let's start

Sleepless nights often come for everyone. For Rainard, today was such a day. He lay in bed and blinked his eyes even though there was no particular reason to sleep.
'I can't sleep.'
It should have been boiling over, considering that he went to the lake and played with Yurina in water whole day. He tossed and turned without the beauty of something, under his chin the quilt hauled up to.
It was not lonely because the tag was low for a month and a half now, or because there were no orphanage children who slept in the same room even if they were not close.
If you were lonely, you should have done it earlier. What do you mean now?
'I just couldn't sleep for no reason. This is driving me crazy.'
"Ah"
After a brief wriggle in the blanket, he soon walked out of the room with his pillow in his arms. There's no one at first.
Scared into the wide corridor, he shrank back, but took courage from the candles all over.
It was such a luxurious mansion to leave the candle on even at night when everyone was sleeping.
*tap* *tap* *tap*
He kept looking back in surprise at the sound of his foot steps, but rushed to his destination. His heart was pounding, perhaps because of the beat or fear.
Upon arriving safely at the destination, Rainard took a deep breath and knocked on the door. But there was no answer.
"I'm sure you're asleep, right?"
I
He was thinking about knocking again, but he gave up and turned around, and the door opened.
"I can't sleep."
"Well, are you scared of the rain?"
"No!"
No, no, no, no, no.
His voice ringed like an echo in the quiet hallway. Yurina hurriedly closed his mouth and pulled his arm.
"be quite, everyone's going to wake up"
Rainard nodded gently and entered the room as she led him. Yurina, who let him go, struck a match with a clumsy touch and lit the candle.
Reinad hugged the pillow tight and only after Yurina patted on the bed did he go and sit down.
Unlike her personality, Yurina who sleeps unexpectedly lot, did it again. Seeing it, Reinard regretted coming.
"I'm sorry I woke you up while you were sleeping. I'll just leave."
Yurina grabbed him by the arm as he was about to get up and sat him back.
"It's alright, I've already woken up."
She yawned again.
Rainard then covered his mouth with a pillow and yawned. He wasn't sleepy, but yawning seems to be contagious.
"Aren't you sleepy?"
Without realizing it, Yurina, holding her pillow, asked, leaning her head against his shoulder. Reinard's shoulders went stiff. He answered with a slight push on Yurina's hair with his fingertips.
"I don't think I'm sleepy."
"you're not sleepy, or you are sleepy but are scared to sleep?"
"it's not like that"
Yurina laughed as she watched him mumbling with his face buried in his pillow.
"Then shall we play until we are sleepy?"
"Play what?"
Rainard asked back in a voice a bit slower than before. He yawned loudly when he saw the girl opening the drawer and taking something out.
"you're sleepy, aren't you?"
"Ah... No."
Countrary to his words, he yawned again.
Yurina walked to the bed. Yurina set down next to Rainard and unfolded the cards, Rainard put down his pillow and crawled besides her with his knees.
He's not familiar with the hand-drawn cards of a well-known painter in the capital city, but it's so gorgeous that his mouth is wide open. It was pretty. Rainard pushed his face into the card and blinked his eyes.
" This is very interesting"
" have you never seen cards before?"
"That's not it."
Who drew the cards he had seen so far?
It was only a card with a sloppy picture that he didn't even know. An exclusive instrument for playing games, a card no more or less, on the other hand, the card in Yurina's hand was so beautiful that it could be seen as a work.
"this is very pretty"
"right? It was a birthday present!"
With a response, Yurina mixed the cards. Rainard listened to the game, trying hard not to forget the explanation she gave him.
What Yurina told was a very easy game in which a certain amount of cards were shared and cards with numbers or patterns like those presented were presented.
All. Even Rainard, who was not familiar with the rules, could quickly become familiar and play the game. Even so, Yurina helped him a lot because he was not used to the first round. Of course it was Yurina who won the first round.
"This is fun! Let's do it again!"
Rainard, who was excited at first even though he lost, looked red as he lost four rounds in a row.
"Me too! I can do it!"
'I understood it well, but why do I keep losing?'
After a while his eyelids got sleepy. Rainard pouted at his card, He thought he could make a hole in the card just by looking at it.
Yurina yawned with a fan-like card covering her mouth. Without realizing it, the rain hitting the window became thicker and the night became more ambitious, but Reinard, who was motivated to win, seemed to have no intention of sleeping until he won.
'Let's lose this round'
She decided to use the last resort to sleep.
She pretends she doesn't have the same pattern of cards. She brings a new penalty card. She doesn't want Rainard to notice it. So she's playing cards from time to time.
As she continued to play a strategic game, Rainard put down his last card.
"I won!"
he raised his hands up and said loudly.
Yurina layed down on the bed.
"I'm sleepy."
"go to sleep"
"it's hard to get up"
Rainard mumbled under the blanket holding a pillow. When Yurina pushed him back with her toes, he tightened his body to keep it from falling off.
"don't make me fall, it hurts"
It seemed that he had no intention of going back.  Yurina couldn't do anything with him.
He settled down in a secluded place. Fortunately, the bed was big enough for two small children to roll and play, which allowed them to distance themselves quite a bit.
"good night, Ray"
There was no answer meaning he already fall asleep. Yurina closed her eyes, with her breath as her lullaby.
The next day, Bessie, who came to wake up Yurina,  had found two children sleeping together on a bed with cards.
The rainy season has begun since the day Rainard visited in the middle of the night. It's raining out all day long, and when it was worth forgetting, there was a flash of light and a loud thunder.
Rainard, who's gotten a little used to living in a mansion, since the rainy season began, seemed to be in low spirits since the rainy season began.
When he saw Yurina, he kept babbling about what she had to say.
Even when he looks at Yurina, she don't say anything.
When he asks why, she says she's just tired.
'It's frustrating to just stay inside the mansion.'
In the meantime, when the weather was nice, thry used to go to the garden and play, but since the rainy season, the two of them have been staying in their rooms all day long.
They're going to be in full swing, so frustrating to stay in one room.
The strangest thing, however, is that they rarely try to sleep at night.
Dressed in her pajamas, Yurina looked at Rainard yawning with her arms crossed. He's already yawned for the fifth time.
"You should sleep if you're sleepy."
"ah..... Hmm, I'm not sleepy"
This was the sixth time. When she heard the somber words and saw his sleepy eyes, she knew he was sleepy, but he said he was fine from the beginning, and he was holding up in Yurina's room.
After completing his homework, he spent some time drinking milk or talking in Yurina's room before going to bed, so it wasn't unusual.
However, Rainard, who was going to his room at ten o'clock, was so sleepy that he hasn't thought of going to his room until midnight. Not only today, but also since the rainy season was started.
When asked what the problem was, only the answer was "I'm okay", but Yurina knew something was wrong.
"is the rain that scary?"
He was dozing off. Yurina recalled him coming to her room not long ago. In the meantime, Rainard's head is down and he's dozing off.
"Reinard, you need to sleep in bed"
He stirred up a soothing. Bessie, who couldn't see it, gently sweeps Rainard.
"I'm not sleepy..."
"even if you're not sleepy you need to go to bed early"
Bessi, who says she has a younger brother who is older than him, skillfully manages him and leaves the room.
Standing in place for a long time looking at the closed door, Yurina went into the chamber only after watching Bessie put Rainard to sleep.
She couldn't sleep well, either because of the look  on Rainard, who tried not to go to the room until the end, or because of the loud rain. Yurina tossed and turned on the bed several times and finally fell asleep.
It's been an hour or so. She woke up with a startled sensation of thunder that was so loud that she could hear it even after sleeping. She rubbed her eyes that could not open properly and looked around.
Sky was still dark and it was raining loudly outside of the window.
"It's raining more"
As she was looking at a window where the rain was bouncing, and the light that was creepy was enough to illuminate the room very briefly and then disappeared. Yurina reflexively covers both ears.
--
The ringing again shook the mansion.
"It's so noisy that I can't sleep"
She was thinking calmly, but door opened urgently.
"Miss, are you alright?"
The nanny, who ran without a cardigan on her pajamas, approached Yurina, who was lying still in bed. She didn't seemed to have realized that she could be more surprised by the sound of the door opening than the sound of thunder.
She had a better look at Yurina
After confirming that she was calm, she sighed while sweeping her chest.
"You were surprised by the thunder, right?"
"No, not really. It's just a little loud, so I just can't sleeping."
She said, "Really? "It's strange. I always find you because you're afraid of thunder during the rainy season. "
After seeing the mysterious face of the nanny, Yurina wanted to cry
I guess. 'Originally, I was very scared of thunder"
She's only a ten years old child.
It  was hard to turn on the light right away because the darkness was scary, so she screamed to find an adult.
'well then I'll have to act like a child'
'I could. I've already done once with Dave and Marquis Cartia, so it's easy'
Yurina looked rather sullen, so she covered herself with a blanket over her head.
"But I'm ten years old now. Ten is not a child. I cried for my mother because I was afraid of thunder."
No, children were already living in Academy at the age of 10.
A laugh was heard across the blanket.
"When did my lady grow up like this. Would you like me to bring you a cup of warm milk?"
The way she stroked her head over the blanket felt strange. Without realizing it, Yurina muttered again with a softer voice without my knowledge.
"No, it's alright."
"then shall I sing a lullaby until you go back to sleep again?"
"I'm not a child."
The nanny again laughed sincerely. What is this? Oh, it felt strange. Was this how Rainard felt when she treated him as a child, saying, "I'm older than you."
"I'll be by your side until you go to sleep, so don't worry and go to sleep, miss."
It's more burdensome to be next. Yurina closed her eyes, feeling the hand touching her back on the blanket. But nothing. The sleep that ran away never came, and the nanny seemed to be really staying with her until she fell asleep.
Eventually, Yurina deliberately exhaled her breath like sleeping. Even though it was a rather awkward acting, the nanny stood up from the bed after opening the blanket again. The warmth felt over the blanket disappeared.
After hearing the door open and close, Yurina escaped from the blanket.
'It's not easy to pretend to be ten years old.'
Yurina suddenly recalled Rainard's face as she watched the rain pouring lightly while stretching.
'are you sleeping as well?'
Rainard was also surprised at the sound because he had a deep sleep and woke up to the sound. Maybe he can't fall asleep again and tremble alone in the dark, waiting for the thunder to stop.
'should I go and check?'
On a thundering day, just as a nanny ran a while ago, adults usually check to see if children are sleeping like this.
But there is no one to care about Rainard. During the day, the maids under my request take good care of his appearance, but they will not come running voluntarily at night.
Then she brought him to this place and came to the thought of whether she, who is acting as his protection, should take over the position.
'is it okay?'
She stared at the door for a moment, but the door never opened again. If Rainard wasn't sleeping, as expected, he would have come back with a pillow like that day.
"Hmm."
Hugging her pillow and pondering for a while, the girl soon got out of bed, lit a candle on a portable candlestick and left the room.
There was nobody in the dark corridor but a faint candle lit, but the whole mansion seemed to be noisy, whether or not everyone was caught up in the midnight turmoil.
Leaving the uproar behind, Yurina walked unhesitatingly to Rainard's room.
