I don't know what you've been told...
I walked onto the dull campus and glanced around. Office, Office, Office. Where is it?... After a few minutes of walking, I finally found it. I stalked into the already opened door and went up to a desk with a small smile. Be warm, kind, no tension, tension means remembrance. They'll know somethings wrong. The lady at the desk looked up and smiled. "What do you need young lady?" She tilted her head a little bit.
"Hi, I'm new," I said. Her eyes lit up and her smile got bigger.
"You're accent is beautiful." She hummed and started to type on the computer in front of her.
"Thank you." I looked to the side out of embarrassment and locked eyes with someone. He went rigid and quickly averted his eyes. I looked back at the lady. She was glaring at the boy. I cleared my throat and she looked back at me and that smile appeared right after.
"I advise you not to go near that boy." she sighed, "Your name please?"
I tensed up and looked her in the eyes. "Magnolia Mae Harlow." Her smile faltered and so did mine as I felt the air in the room alter. Her eyes turned glassy and she shuddered.
"I'm sorry." I nodded at her and looked back at the boy. I swear I saw a sadness in his eyes as he looked me up and down but it was gone as fast as it came. His stare turned intense as he looked at my chest. Lust was nonexistent in his eyes but it was like he could see the withering soul beneath my exterior. He looked up to my eyes and frowned. I felt a tap on my shoulder and whipped my head to whoever did it, my breath turning ragged. " I-I got your schedule, but you don't have to go to class today if you don't want to. You're not on any attendance sheets yet." I took a shaky breath and took the schedule she put in front of her.
"Could you tell me where the H building is?" I questioned. She nodded and was about to respond when I felt someone behind me. The lady emptied all of the air in her lungs.
"Yes Mr. Jeon?" she had the dirtiest glare on her face, if it was directed to me I would've been petrified. I turned and looked up at him. He was maybe 5'10 or 5'11 and was wearing a big loose black shirt with grey sweat pants. I looked at his eyes that were grey but looking closer he was wearing contacts. There was amusement in his eyes as he talked to the lady. I wasn't paying attention until he looked down at me and smirked. I realized that I was staring at him for a long time and that they were waiting for a response. I looked at her in question and she cleared her throat. "Do you mind if he takes you to class since he's going in the same direction?"
"Yea I don't mind." My voice came out a little quieter than I wished it to. She shook her head like I made a mistake.
She looked at me wearily and said, "I'm sorry for your loss." I murmured thank you and when Jeon and I were about to leave she said something under her breath that I wasn't able to hear.
"I would never," Jeon said with his back turned to her he looked down at me and winked but he failed in doing so it just looked like he was in pain , but it was kinda cute. He hooked his arm in mine and we headed out the door.
After about a minute of walking in silence, he stopped and muttered something about needing to use the bathroom and left me sitting on a bench. I had the chance to look around. My brain was going 100mph so I didn't have time to take in my surroundings. I noted where all the exits I could see were how many windows there were, how wide they were, and if I would be able to fit through. I started looking through the halls and my eyes laid on a beautiful painting of what seemed to be a wing of a plane and clouds that shimmered which made an illusion of the clouds moving. I ended up standing in front of the painting and tracing the outlines of the clouds with my fingertips. My back was turned to where I was once before and completely oblivious to Jeon creeping up behind me. I felt little splatters of liquid hit my face and I screamed and crouched down holding my hands to my ears and tightly shutting my eyes. I quickly started to cry through my closed eyes. I then felt a firm hand on my back. My breath hitched and I scrambled to get away but the hands took hold of my wrists and pulled them away from my ears. "Hey..." I was shaking still keeping my eyes closed."Open your eyes." I slowly opened them and met the eyes of Jeon. " You're okay. You're okay. You're okay..." He continued to say that until I calmed down and hugged me. I flinched but he still held on.
I lightly pushed him off me and stood up. I shifted on my feet. "Thank you."
"It was water, from me washing my hands. Sorry." I shrugged it off and started walking. We finally reached my class and he stopped me right before I went in. "I know what happened." He looked at me with a question in his eyes like he wanted me to explain but I shook my head.
"I don't know what you've been told." I glared at him. "Besides it's none of your business." I left him and his stupid worried expression and sauntered off into class. When I walked in I felt all of the other student's attention seeping into my skin. The teacher looked at me and grinned.
"New student?" he questioned. I nodded and he walked to me and ushered me to the middle of class. "Please identify yourself and tell us what school you came from." I stilled at the second question but continued.
"Hello, I'm Magnolia Harlow," some people looked like I've grown a second head." and I came from Lottice Howell High." People started murmuring among themselves then to other people asking why that school seemed familiar and why my name did too. The teacher showed me to my seat and after a quiet, I'm sorry for your loss he began teaching I quickly realized this is going to be my favorite class. he talked for maybe two minutes and left us to finish the last few minutes of the period with whatever we wanted to do. I rested my head on the table and dozed off until the sound of the bell woke me up.
