We were sitting in the dinning hall. Grace picked at her mashed potatoes. Felix silently ate his sandwich. Slowly, I picked at my roll. We ate in silence. No one really knew what to talk about.
"So...we don't really know anything about each other," Felix said, looking at Grace and I. I nodded.
"I'll go first...I'm the middle child, I'm 16. I was captain of the volleyball team. My dads a preacher, so that's fun," Grace smiled.
"I'm 18, only child. I was going to college until now. I was supposed to get my masters degree in medical sciences, but not after this," Felix laughed hollowly.
They both turned to me.
"I'm 17, youngest. My brother Ben said I was destined to get a degree in art. He's full of shit...um...my mom thinks this is helping me...she's full of shit too," I smiled sadly, thinking about Ben."Alright, there's a big storm coming. Everyone go to the commons or your rooms...NOW!" a man in a green suit yelled.
As if on cue, a loud thunder clap made several girls scream. I rolled my eyes and we all stood up. The three of us walked back to our room. As we walked, the storm grew louder as did the screams. Every time someone would scream, I would jump.
Once we reached our room, Grace sat in the bathroom and laid down on my bed. I looked out the skylight above my bed. Dark, grey clouds were spitting rain on the glass. Lightning flashed off in the distance, lighting up the clouds.
"What time is Alec getting back?" Grace asked, walking out of the bathroom.
"Harmon said to be in here at six," I said, looking up.
"And it's almost 6:15," Grace said, she started pacing.I laid back down and felt someone sit next to me. I looked over to see it was Felix. He smiled a little and then stretched out next to me. His hand found mine and our fingers intertwined. I smiled and my stomach did several flips. As we all listened to the storm, there was a knock on the door. Grace opened it and Alec stumbled in. Felix and I sat up. Alec slowly walked to his bed and sat down. Dr. Harmon walked in. She was holding a clip board.
"Okay, time for results. Grace, you show signs of a sixth sense. Alec is a psychic. Felix is almost a medium. Adeline...you have the Sixth Sense. I will go into depth tomorrow. You'll all see me. Just not at the same time. Actually, Grace and Adeline I'll see you two first. Then Felix and lastly Alec," Dr. Harmon said.
"Yay for freaks," i said shortly.
"Your not freaks...just...different," Dr. Harmon said with a forced smile.
"So freaks," Felix muttered.Dr. Harmon sighed, "Okay...tomorrow morning, you four will go to breakfast. Then you can sit in the commons or here. I'll send someone for you. Do not go outside."
We nodded and she left.Once the door was shut and locked, Grace jumped to Alec. He was still in a daze. She put his face in her hands and looked into his eyes. Grace began to talk to him quietly. It made me sad looking at them. This place is messing with them. Alec's not sleeping as well and he's less talkative. Grace is over there having nightmares and almost always crying. I sighed and laid back down.
Outside the storm raged on. The rain slapped the roof and the thunder was loud. Felix's face was over mine. He smiled but there was a hint of sadness it in. I raised my eyebrows. He nodded and cleared his throat. I searched his brown eyes. Tears slowly formed. I grabbed his hand and whispered, "It's okay." Felix nodded and laid down next to me.
