11 Adam Cole

For the sixth week in a row.  Adam Cole and his damn Undisputed Era. For six weeks now his mission has been to make my professional life as unbearable as possible. The UE distracted me in my matches, disrupted my promos and played pranks on me backstage like hiding my ring gear. Why, I could not understand. Adam seemed to get along great with everyone in the company except me. And, of course, he dragged his minions along with him. Since he was Triple H's golden boy and the poster boy of NXT, he seemed to be able to do whatever he wanted. Even worse was that, since the fans were totally into our back and forth, Triple H and Regel liked what Adam did.

Today I almost lost my championship because of his games. He jumped on the ring apron during the match. Rhea Ripley took advantage of my distraction and rolled me up. At the 2 count I was able to counter the roll-up into my submission move. Thank God she tapped out. That was close, way too close. I stared over at Adam and this time he actually looked a little guilty. When he saw my icy look he disappeared.

Now it was finally enough. If the management didn't want to take action, I took it into my own hands. Adam wanted to mess with me, he could have it. After I showered and changed, I went to see Triple H and Mr. Regel. See what they think of my idea. I was pretty sure they'd go for it. It was best for business.

I walked up to Hunter and said "Hey Hunter, you got a minute? I'd like to make a little suggestion to you and Mr. Regel."

"Sure, Y/N. I always got time for my NXT Women's champion. Why don't you come with me to the office? William should be there." Hunter replied. We went to the office together.

" So, Y/N, what can we do for you?" he asked.

"Well I have a idea for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn next week..."

An hour later I stood backstage and got ready to confront Adam. His match had just ended when I told the tech guy to play my music and I went out onto the ramp.

"Congratulations Adam. Another victory thanks to your little friends... But I want to tell you why I'm here. You know, I'm tired of being constantly bugged by you, so I have an idea how we can settle this." While I was saying that, I got in the ring to meet Adam face-to-face. The other members of the Undisputed Era were leaning against the ring ropes.

"Next week on NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, our audience can expect something very special. For the first time in NXT history, Adam Cole, NXT champion versus Y/N L/N, NXT women's champion in an intergender match." When I said that, Adam looked like he was having a stroke. I couldn't help but laugh.

"What do you say, Bay Bay? Are you man enough to fight me? Champion versus champion. Oh, and your friends here are banned from ringside." I smirked.

The audience was completely freaking out. My music played and with that I left the ring. Kyle, Roderick and Bobby all talked to Adam, but he didn't show any reaction. His eyes were still on me.

That was the end of the show and I was more than satisfied. But my happiness did not last long.

"Y/N, please wait a moment. I want to talk to you." Adam shouted as he approached me.

I groaned annoyed "What do you want now, Cole?"

"Listen, I'm sorry for all the things I've done to you lately. I'm sorry I've been such a jerk. You know... the thing is that I..." he said when he was interrupted.

Kyle came up to us and immediately said with a big grin on his face "Have you finally told her you like her?"

I gasped. Was that the real reason for all the drama?

"KYLE!!!" Adam exclaimed in panic.

"Oooops, I'm sorry... I'd better go." And with that he was gone again.

"Adam?" I asked. I wanted to hear it from his mouth. 

"Oh, boy, this isn't exactly how I wanted to do it, but what Kyle said is true. So, yes, I like you, a lot. But you make me really nervous and that's why I kind of turned back into a teenager. I know how stupid that sounds. I can't control it. I figured, I'll take all the attention I can get."

"I hope you know how silly and immature this is." I told him.

"Yes, I know. I never wanted it to come to this, and now we have to fight each other. This is all my fault. If I had just been honest with you, we wouldn't be in this situation now," he sounded agitated.

"Hmm... yes, but now there's nothing we can do about this mess. We have to go through it now." I shrugged my shoulders.

"I might have an idea. But I need to talk to Hunter and the guys first," Adam replied.

"What kind of idea?" Now I was curious.

"So listen, here's what I was thinking, we..."

The day of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.

"And you really won't tell me what Hunter said about your idea?" I asked Adam pouting.

"I want to tell you, but Hunter asked me to keep it to myself. He wants to see your genuine reaction," he replied as he took me in his arms.

We had spent a lot of time together over the last week, in training for our match (in case Hunter changed plans), but also outside of it. I had to say that Adam was really a great guy and I was glad that he showed me this side of himself. The rest of the Undisputed Era agreed with Adam's plan, only what Hunter thought about it I didn't know. I would find out any moment, because we were next. Time for the main event.

I went out first, did my pose and went into the ring. Then the music of UE played and Adam came out followed by the other three. Okay time to put the plan into action. As the guys started to make their way to the ring, I went into the corner and got a microphone.

"What the hell is going on, Cole? You know they're not allowed ringside," I snorted, sometimes it's not easy to stay in character. 

"Relax, sweetie, they're just here because we have an important announcement to make," Adam said as he approached me.

"We are here today to introduce to you all the newest member of the Undisputed Era!" he continued and the audience gasped.

"Oh great, one more of you... Well, spit it out, who is it?" By now Adam was so close to me I could feel his breath on my face.

"I'll give you a hint..." with that he threw his microphone on the floor, took my face in his hands and gave me a passionate long kiss. The crowd around us literally exploded. The loudest pop I've ever heard. It was so loud it hurt in the ears. As we separated, Roderick, Kyle and Bobby came to us and Kyle put something in Adam's hand. Adam took my hand and pushed the UE bandage up to my upper arm. Then he raised our arms while the others did the UE pose.

This was another memorable twist on an NXT takeover.
