Logan's POV

(Surrender - Natalie Taylor)

×

The pine trees is still the same but it's colder because it's Fall. I smile when I enter the pine trees area, it's like I'm sucked deep into when I was in high school for my first assignment with the same person.

I turn around to see where Alex is, but suddenly I hear a 'click!' sound and it comes from Alex. This is the first time she takes a picture of me and I don't know how the result is but I'm willing to know later.

"What?" My smile widen when I see Alex is smiling.

"You look good." Alex compliments. "But I'm still the best, though."

I facepalm myself, then laughing. "How can you pass a door with that big size head of yours?"

"It's not that big." She shrugs it off. "I can make it bigger."

Now I'm laughing my ass off. Alex is different now. She's more confident and she looks like she doesn't have a bad past. The new Alex is a good person, but why do I miss the old Alex? The cold heartless bitch Alex.

Maybe time heals her wounds, time heals her bitterness and time finally brings Alexandra Miller back.

"Why are you smiling?" Alex chuckles.

"Nothing, I just missed this place." I answer truthfully.

Yeah, this is the first time I see different Alex. All the old memories come up to the surface and I find myself smiling because those memories I have is still live in me every single day.

"Here." Alex gives my camera back.

"You don't want to take another picture?" I ask her.

"No." She shakes her head. "You're the photographer, not me."

"Okay. Now, come on. The later we take, the colder the weather will be." I say.

"We can warm each other, though." She chuckles unconsciously.

Then her eyes widen and I'm just standing there awkwardly. I think she realizes something because her face looks so cute when she is confused.

"No!" She is half shouting. "I mean, we can— Uh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to say something like that. Don't misinterpret it the wrong way, okay?"

I chuckle, this really is the new Alex. "Chill, Alex. It's okay. Maybe this place brings back memories so much."

"Y-yeah." She scratches her neck. "Come on."

We walk to The Hill without anything to say because I'm busy taking pictures and she is doing something I don't bother to ask.

We take a break three times because we're exhausted. Well, the older we get, our physics is not the same when we were younger, right?

"I forgot that The Hill is far from the pine trees area." I say. "I'm exhausted."

"Oh, come on, oldie." She mocks me.

I gasp dramatically. "I am not old. You're older than me, though."

She rolls her eyes. "Just eighteen days. You're dramatic."

I chuckle but then I feel sad all of sudden. We never celebrated anything together back then. Not a Halloween, Thanksgiving, or our birthdays (she doesn't celebrate the Christmas I didn't know why and I didn't ask).

We were together just for a short of time yet we were inseparable back then. Maybe because I was just so in love with her, but apparently she wasn't. She wasn't in love with me, she just loved me. That was why we were over five years ago.
