Chapter 6 - Pack Law

Natsu's POV

Every step hurt as I ran as fast as I could to where Gray howled, worried about Lucy's safety. I couldn't let my pack harm her. In the distance, I spotted Gray along with Juvia, Gajeel and Laxus surrounding Lucy, cornering her against the cliff and growling at her. Lucy was crouched in a submissive position with her ears pinned back and tail curled. She whined to show them she wasn't a threat but they were still growling at her.

'I have to stop this' I thought. As I got close enough, I used Gray's back as a springboard to jump over my pack members and land facing them, protecting Lucy. A few seconds later, the rest of the pack joined Gray's side. "What are you doing Alpha?! She's a Rogue!" someone shouted.

"I knew something was fishy. You waking up early every morning, then you wanting to patrol the East forest for the last few weeks, then you bring a deer in today by yourself and scared away three rogues without warning the pack. You out of all of us should know the pack law!" Gray growled.

Number one pack law is that a pack member can never befriend a Rogue and/or allow them into the pack. That law was made decades ago, before I became Alpha, when a Rogue was banished for killing another pack member and then moved on from pack to pack. This Rogue caused every pack in Fiore to go against each other, creating the biggest war in pack history. After the war was over, to avoid the same mistake, all the alphas in Fiore came together and decided to create this law.

"But she's not a threat! I found her injured here by three male rogues. What was I supposed to do? Leave her here to die?! She hasn't done anything wrong. Look, she doesn't have a scar over her eye! Why can't she join our pack?" I argued.

"You know our pack laws, Natsu. Only wolves from other packs may join. As a Rogue, she must leave and never return or face death by the pack" Erza stepped in. "That's stu-" I tried to argue but then Lucy rubbed her body against me as she stood beside me. "It's ok Natsu. I'll leave. Thank you for being my friend" she said with a sad smile. "This is wrong" I muttered in anger to the ground as she was about to turn and leave.

"Lucy?" someone spoke up and everyone was surprised as Loke pushed his way to the front. "Loke" Lucy said as tears gathered in her eyes when she saw him. 'They know each other?' I wondered. As soon as he was right in front of Lucy, he bowed his head in respect. When he raised his head, tears fell down his cheeks. "I-I thought you were dead" he said, emotionally and then hugged her by wrapping his neck around hers and resting his head on her neck. She gladly returned the hug.

"Loke, do you mind explaining what's going on?" Erza asked. Loke released the hug and turned to face the pack. "Most of you know my past before I joined the pack. I was a part of the Zodiac pack but that's not the whole truth. The Zodiac pack was actually a sub-pack within the Celestial pack" Loke started to explain. "The one that got invaded and destroyed all those years ago, right?" Gajeel asked, "right" Loke replied with a nod. "I thought I was the only one to survive that day and then Gramps found me wandering" he continued. "What does any of that have to do with you knowing this Rogue?" Gray asked. "Well, she's the Celestial Alpha and Luna's daughter. Meet the heir to the Celestial pack, Lucy" Loke introduced.

My eyes widened at Lucy's title and then turned to her. "Why didn't you tell me?" I asked. Why didn't she tell me that fact earlier? "Why didn't you tell me you were an Alpha?" she fired back. "Hey, I asked first!" I complained. "Because that was years ago, when I was a pup. Ever since that day I've been a Rogue" she replied. "Well, I didn't tell you I was an Alpha because I don't like throwing my title around" I replied to her question. "So, what are we going to do about Blondie?" Laxus asked with a smirk like he knew how the outcome will turn out.

It then hit me, Lucy was a part of the Celestial pack so that means by pack law she can join our pack! I looked around at my pack and everyone had an accepting smile/smirk on their faces. Lucy looked over at me tilting her head, confused about the situation. "Since Lucy was a part of the Celestial pack, she is allowed under pack law to join any pack she chooses" I announced using my alpha voice. Lucy's eyes widened like she knew what I was about to say next. "So Lucy, would you like to join the Fairy Tail pack?" I asked. Happy tears started falling down her cheeks. "If you all will have me then yes, I would love to join Fairy Tail" she replied and I smiled. "Then welcome to the pack Lucy and now lets party!" I cheered and then the rest of the pack cheered. I watched Lucy smile brightly as everyone cheered and walked up to meet her. 'You'll never be alone again Lucy. I'll make sure of that' I thought.
