I was never a fan of anything connected to the word "incest". Who would like it, anyway? Hearing or seeing anything related to that makes me shiver. Incest is evil. Incest is not right and will never be.
However, Wattpad's one of the most popular Filipino writer, Jonah Mae Pacala, also known as jonaxx, made me curious enough look after the story of Klare and Elijah, the main characters of her incest-themed novel, Until Trilogy. Until Trilogy includes her works, Until He Was Gone, Until He Returned, and Until Forever, and tackles the struggle of two people who fell in love with each other even if they knew they should have not.Klare Desteen Montefalco and Elijah Riley Montefalco were raised as cousins from a prominent family of lawyers and businessmen in Cagayan de Oro. Growing up, they did not get along so well that a day will cry without them arguing and pissing off the other one. However, they did something that cousins do not normally do- they fell...for each other. After a long time of suppressing what they feel, their feelings were strong enough that they were able to break the rules and dared to play with the fire of hell. They became affectionate and even dated secretly because they knew what they will end up to once their family discovers their relationship. They were both aware that what they were doing was not right and will never be. Yet, they still took the risk. Sadly, there is no secret that can be kept forever. Their family learned what was going on and the moment they knew it, they decided to separate the two. Elijah, who loved Klare so much, was willing to fight for her and forsake their family but Klare's desire to protect the home and the family where she grew up and fix everything they've done, prevailed her heart which made her follow them and pushed him away.
Shockingly, after Elijah left the country, Klare found out that she's her mom's child out of wedlock. She was miserable and broken because the family she has loved, treasured, and protected was not truly hers. For her, she doesn't deserve the name Montefalco. Klare struggled in seeking for the fragments of her identity. She has met her biological father and later on, changed her last name into Ty, her Chinese businessman father's family name. Most from the Montefalco family got mad at her decision so they became distant to her. Except from her two brothers, the Tys also despised her because for them, she deserves not to be a part of their family.
Elijah on the other hand, was fully not aware because no one in their family wanted or dared to tell him. It was only after two years when he learned that he and Klare are not really cousins. He was shocked and thought of how pained and broken Klare was, and he was not even at her side to comfort her. Immediately, he returned to Cagayan de Oro after his father let him go back because he lied that he has already moved on and got a new girl.
As soon as they met again, Klare and Elijah knew that their feelings did not change, they still love each other. Nonetheless, though she was already a Ty, Elijah's father and some of their uncles and aunties from the Montefalco did not approve for the second time when they learned about it. For them, Klare still belongs to their family and besides, they grew up as cousins and all the people around them think they are. However, they got their other cousins' full support this time.Elijah, like before, was willing to be renounced by his family to fight for their love but unlike two years ago, Klare was already brave enough to fight with him. Though they did not really care on what people will think and say about them, they wanted the full acceptance from their families. The trilogy ended after Elijah proposed to Klare with the whole Montefalcos giving their blessings although still, most of the Tys did not.
