For the ones that know what this is about, in this fiction both Pixie and Brutus are human and are about the same age. If anyone would like to do a fanart for this one, feel free to message me. Enjoy!
I never knew how much a single person could change my life until I was forced to transfer to a different school in a different town. The first day my tough and scary exterior helped me to accomplish my plan of pushing the other students away. I wasn't violent or dangerous at all, I simply didn't like to interact with people and wasn't looking for any friends at all.
And it was so until I reached my Math class.
"Class, this is our new student Brutus. Please give him a warm welcome" the teacher tried to put some enthusiasm in her words but failed terribly to do so. A shy welcome came out of the bored to death students and I didn't even bother to acknowledge them. I simply walked towards the free seat she had pointed out in the middle of the classroom, earning one or two curious looks on my way there.
I knew what it was. Any kid with a huge scar across his face would call attention in the middle of a classroom from a small town like this one.
Finally, I reached my destination and I plopped myself on my seat without sparing anyone a look. Most of the people had gotten back to their own work, except for a blonde girl right next to me that kept staring at me with her huge blue eyes, not curious or scared by my aspect, but more like excited to meet someone new, even if that someone was me.
"Hi. My name is Pixie" she introduced herself with a bright mood, despite my rather hostile attitude towards her. "You have a pretty name" she commented when she was met with silence from my side.
"Thanks" I replied coldly while trying to shy away from her. Her chirpy attitude was getting on my nerves already.
"People say you were in military school. That sounds like so much fun!" she squealed in excitement before going back to drawing scribbles on her notebook with her colorful markers.
"Yeah... super fun" I replied after a sigh. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't bring myself to tear down that castle of stars and rainbows the girl next to me seemed to live in. Perhaps it wasn't that bad to be a little positive.
After that Pixie made sure to walk me to every inch of this filthy school she likes so much. I sincerely didn't know why she got all excited about a water fountain or just the grass outside. I didn't mind her company though. It's not like she demanded a reply from me, she simply contented herself with me pretending to hear every single description of the things we saw.
"And that's my favorite sitting spot, but you can borrow it... hey! Watch it" she complained when some kids ran by her so fast she almost tripped. My hand on her forearm prevented her from falling and also allowed me to aid her back to her feet.
"You're very small and weak. If anything bigger than a toddler wanted to hurt you, you wouldn't stand much of a chance..." I let out my thoughts before giving her a second look. She was indeed small, and weak, and innocent... so much it triggered something in me. "I guess I'll have to watch out for you" I concluded and before I knew it I had her clinging from my arm.
"Thanks! So you'll be like my big brother or something?" she asked while her eyes sparkled at me.
"Sure" I rolled my eyes slightly while hiding a half smile that tugged at my lips. I had always felt good protecting people.
Unfortunately after that it was impossible for Pixie to be just quiet. She wanted to tell me everything about her life and I thought that, if she was like that with everyone, it was very easy for someone to hurt her. She couldn't simply open up like that with the first person she sees.
