FRIENDS?
Another lazy afternoon in May. I was sprawled on the sofa watching Conjuring. As I got engrossed in that lake scene, the doorbell rang. I opened the door. Standing there, was my neighbour.
His family shifted here six months ago and he was already friends with every girl in the neighbourhood except me ofcourse for the stubborn introvert that I am.
His parents were hardly at home due to work so he always had friends over, even during lockdown.
"What?" I ask.
"Umm, are you alone?"
"What does it look like?" I ask waving my hand at the living room where curtains were closed, fan was on full speed, movie was louder than required and chocolate wrappers were lying around.
"Oh, okay, yes, I need help. Do you have a...um..pad and shorts? I have a friend over, she needs it," he says not looking me in the eye.
"Yeah, wait."
I fetch a pad and shorts and hand it to him. He left with a meek thanks.
Few minutes later, his friend drops in to thank me and leaves.
I'm back to my movie and the doorbell disturbs again, for third time this afternoon.
It's him again.
"Hey, would you like to join me for a Conjuring marathon with icecream?"
Looks like someone got PMS tips from the Google.
But this is an irresistible offer coming from a boy. A first one for me. It's time I open up.
"Sure. Let me fetch the keys."
