Chapter 30

Hassa trotted up to Tobi, Artemis, and Vale. He dug his snout into the back of Vale's head. "What happened?"

I don't know, Patience replied, hovering over Tobi in confusion. She hopped over to Vale and studied his idle face. Wow, she gushed. Vale's hair looks so COOL close up!

"Stay focused, creature," Hassa growled, shaking his wings out. "That so-called "pretty boy villain dude" somehow must've put a spell on the humans. What do we do?"

I don't know, Patience said, sharpening her talons. I thought that you were the one that made decisions between the both of us.

Hassa licked a paw. "Yes, but sometimes I need help."

Thanks for admitting that, genius.

"Shut up, creature."

Make me.

Hassa's jaw dropped as he turned away in defeat. "Hmph. Wow. Well, then." He nudged Tobi's shoulder and barked in her face loudly. "WAKE UP, HUMANS!" Vale snored slightly. Hassa walked over to him, inspecting his face. "Oh, a sleeping spell!"

So... how do we wake them up, genius? Patience asked, following him. Hassa weighed in the question and padded up to Artemis's pack. He bit down on the zipper and dragged it to the end. After, he rummaged around and tossed a small bottle filled with a green, spicy liquid.

Patience gasped. Is that mustard???

Hassa rolled his eyes in annoyance. "God, how stupid are you?" He screwed open the cap with his fangs and spit it out on the dirt, then poured some into Vale's mouth. It was a tense moment of hope.

Is it gonna work?

"I don't know..." Hassa peered right above Vale's face. A few seconds later, Vale flicked his eyes open and jumped up into a fighting stance, knocking Hassa on the ground. He groaned.

"Where'd he go?!" Vale shouted. "I'll kill the idiot!"

Hassa snorted, and said, "Too late, human. He's gone, and made a rather fancy exit."

"God damn it," Vale mumbled. He shoved his hands in his pockets, and stared at the floor, watching Tobi and Artemis lay in a deep sleep. "Woah, woah, what happened?!"

"That evil human put a spell on the humans causing the humans to fall asleep until I dug into one of the human's bags and poured a liquid into you, human's mouth," Hassa explained.

Vale blinked. "... Right. Then just make them drink the potion." He swiped the bottle from the ground and poured a few drops in Tobi's mouth then Artemis's. He backed away until they both sprang from the ground and crashed into each other, returning back down.

"Ow," Tobi grunted, sliding up to her feet. "What just happened?"

"The weasel said that that Phoenix person put a "spell" on us," Vale informed them, as Artemis gawked at the pile of medicines and herbs piled on the ground next to his bag.

"I am NOT a weasel, human!" Hassa snarled, taking a step forward. "I am a hybrid."

"Right."

Hassa narrowed his eyes as Artemis said, "Hey, how about we stop for lunch?"

Sounds good to me, Patience said with glee. She traveled in the woods with Hassa following her glumly as Tobi and Artemis fished their lunches from their bags.

"We're running low on food," Tobi said quietly. "We have to find Valor soon."

"Don't worry," Artemis told her. "We'll find her."
