Life can be very sneaky sometimes. All this time, I always thought that I will be able to attend college, start up my own bakery, and have a simple life but I was proven extremely wrong... just in one day. Our dad had left us when I was only 8 and my sister was 1. Then my aunt convinced my mom to move in with them as mom was working two jobs and was also, emotionally unstable. We were financially very weak and even having enough food to survive was getting hard. Mom agreed to move in only if we paid my aunt a bit so that it won't look like a favour. I started working in a supermarket thrice a week to earn my mom's medication. After a years of living with my aunt, we were able to stand on our own feet... earn our own living. We rented a flat with one room because it was only me, my mom and my little sister and we lived in the same room as we were very very close. My mom worked hard and was promoted to a better job and she started earning more. It was the senior year of my highschool so I quit my job to study but my little sister started working at this little boutique in the town because her school principal started a thing in which you are supposed to do a extra curricular activity with your studies... She thought that it would help the students in their lives when they will have to deal with multiple problems, and the most funny point about this was that she called it "the student's thang". My sister, Starling, has always been the sweetest of all people who I have ever seen while me, on the other hand, have a bossy and bold personality. We were named by my mom who was once told that "she will have two daughters, both like gems, the elder one will be more independent and the younger one will be a beautiful, inside and out". At that time, she wasn't even married, and when she got married and had me, she named me Raven, because of two reasons, one that the bird Raven has a empathetic behaviour but yet are very playful, and the second reason was that she had a best friend who died of lung cancer when they both were kids. Then when I was 7, Starling was born and mom named her so because she noticed that I was behaving independent and a little on the bossy side around the kids of my age, and while the teachers and other parents were angry at me, my mother was proud and new that the person who told her about her kids was right so she named my sister after the the bird Starling. Right after my graduation from highschool, I got in the most elite college of New York, which was a few states away from our town, so my mom said that we three should move to the city of New York, she can start a new life, use her cooking skills for something nice while I can study on hundred percent scholarship. We got a cute little flat in the main city, overlooking the Empire state building. We started off pretty good, we had two rooms, the bigger one was taken by mom and Starling and I got the little one... but I did like it because it was cozy. Mom started a business, a little cafe, that was pretty cheap, and the environment was like the environment that students and mothers would love. It was a major success, we were happy, we had a new life. Money was never short and most importantly, mom was happy. I made friends who also helped out at the cafe and mom started being social. Starling had a better future now, she didn't have to worry about anything now. She could hang out with her friends and we would hang out, the three of us, eating pizza, watching movies with snacks and playing games, just having fun. Monthly, we went shopping because that was what mom loved....
