"Really?, then let's see how you are going to kill me Zayn"- Ahaan Abdulhamid.
"Ma'assalam aunty Nazmeerah, I will see you by my next shift", I shouted the exiting salon with the envelope containing my salary in hand.
" Inshallahu, ki gashe min da mamanki kin ji ?"
" zataji".
Aunty Nazmeerah is the owner of sparkls, the beauty salon I work at.
I walk down into my neighborhood, with my earphones plugged. I am not listening to anything but I just let it be. I skipped happily to where I meet with dark Streets, shabby-looking houses, youngsters smoking in a group. Among the large group of smokers stood my brother, Ahaan.
I duck my head and pick up my pace because I don't want it to happen but I guess it is bound to.
"Hah...na..na..h"
'What's wrong with him is he high or something'"Hey sis, have you by any chance become deaf, can't you hear me talking to you" I slowly turn around, still not raising my head.
"What is it that you want?", I asked.
He threw me the stick he was holding in his hands this whole time. " Go get me a pall mall", he didn't spare me a glance as he says it.
I looked up and scoff. he wants me to go get him cigarettes with my money no!, even if it's with his money then he is indeed a magnificent idiot to think I will do that.
" you want me to go buy you cigarettes?", I asked unbelievably." WA! you have seriously become deaf, haven't you".
"I just don't understand why I will do that for you when you have two hands and legs that are working perfectly", I told him looking straight into his dark eyes. he stood up throwing a kick into the air, he looks very irritated.
"Why you little B-, I cut him off before he starts swearing like he usually does. "I believe am done here, I will be heading inside", I said coolly.
I don't want to see the dangerous look in his eyes again so I quickly walked into the old building of apartments, which one of them is mine.
"As-salam-u-Alaikum", I calmly announced my presence.
"Wa Alaikum Assalam", I heard mama's voice from the kitchen.
"you're home?".
"Eeh mama, I had a long day, my new boss at the convenience store is a very harsh person. He kept grumbling throughout the morning wallahi", I said happily trying to start a conversation with her but she just gave me a short nod and went back into the kitchen.
I sighed heavily and slumped down onto the worn-out sofa where I met my eldest brother zayn sitted looking lifeless, staring ahead and drinking ( Alcohol), as always.
I sighed.
"As-salam-u-Alaikum Yaya zayn", I greeted.
No reply.
I got startled when I heard the loud sound of a door being slammed.
"Maama, where the hell is your useless daughter", Ahaan's loud roar sent a shiver down my spine.
"What got into you Ahaan", I heard mama questioned. he advanced into the living room with long strides without answering her.
"Ah, so you were here huh?", he let out a burst of small dry laughter.
I didn't know what exactly to do as I watch him raise his fist up, probably to give me a punch. He never did though, his hand stayed still, in the air.
"What the hell let go!", he shouted.
"What do you think you are doing", came Zayn's very calm voice.
"obviously, am going to knock some senses into your mannerless sister", he replied trying to fight Zayn's grip.
"I am going to let go of you Ahaan but just know one thing you lay a single finger on her, you die", he told him and his voice again surprisingly sounds very calm.
"Really, well then let's see how you are going to kill me zayn", Ahaan inched closer to our older brother's face.
"Enough you two! zayn, Habibi let go of your brother and you--she pointed at me-- to your room NOW!!, mama yelled sternly.
I didn't wait to hear nor witness more, I ran off to my room and closed the door behind me.
'I am exhausted'.
