"To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that prisoner was you"
- Lewis B. Smedes

"Hazel, my disappointing, little Hazel." I hear a women's voice on the other end of the phone say.

"Excuse me, who is this?" I ask, I usually don't get calls.

"You don't recognize your own mothers voice?" She says, I can barely pick my jaw off the floor, "This is the new wave of our family, your father was murdered, it's time for revenge. You ruined everything, now you can sit back and watch as I make Aaron Hotchners world crumble"

I try to collect my thoughts, "Mom please, you need help, don't do this, let me help you"

"You can't stop the inevitable," she responds, "The time to carry on the legacy has come, Hazel Foyet."

-One week later-

"Hazel Kenner to the front desk, Hazel Kenner to the front desk." I hear the static voice from the intercom.

Looking around this room, it feels like a prison. I have been stuck here for a month but it's feels like years. The empty halls are eerily quiet. Lights flickering, manic laughter being heard from a distance, everything looks right out of a horror movie. People say mental hospitals aren't all scary like in movies. I believe that to be true in most cases, but not when it comes to Saint Mary's Mental Hospital for the Troubled. This place is like prison but if all the prisoners were emotionally numb and felt like there was nothing left for them in this world.

Step by step I hear my shoes hit against the cool tile of the floor as I make my way to the front desk. I know what this is about, or at least I hope I do. I basically begged him on the phone to consider coming here.

I walk past the common area but hear a familiar name echo through the walls from the TV.

"A prisoner who was released from Green Rock Correctional Center two weeks ago by the name of Valentina Kenner." Hearing that spikes my interest, what did my mother do two weeks after her escape so that she's featured on the news? "We have gotten reports that yesterday afternoon she robbed a drug store killing a customer and a cashier. In blood she wrote on the wall, "JUSTICE FOR FOYET". The police believe this is in reference to George Foyet, a serial killer who was killed 11 years ago. As for now the relationship between Valentina Kenner and George Foyet is unknown, but police ask if you have any information that you contact them."

I see a few fellow patients raise there heads and look at me. I always wondered as a kid what it would be like if your parents were famous, this isn't what I meant. I keep a straight emotionless face while the patients look at me, not showing my concern. I try to brush off the news I have just heard and keep walking.

I fiddle with my fingers as I wait in the seated area of the front desk. Joy, the receptionist looks up at me with a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry Honey, he called ahead and said he'd be here any minute. You just sit tight dear." she says as I fake a smile.

Suddenly the main doors are swung open and a tall, confident, man walks in and examines the room as if he is silently judging us. He locks eyes on me and just stands there for a second, not saying a word.

How are you supposed to start a conversation about this? There's no easy way to do this but I can't show that inside I'm scared and frightened. I get up cool and steady. Slowly walking over to him keeping eye contact. I take  a few steps and put my hand out for him to shake it.

"Nice to finally meet you, Aaron Hotchner." I say with a smug look on my face.
