♡︎𝕡𝕝𝕒𝕪 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕠𝕟𝕘 𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕟𝕖𝕩𝕥 𝕤𝕝𝕚𝕕𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕤𝕖𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕞𝕠𝕠𝕕 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕔𝕙𝕒𝕡𝕥𝕖𝕣♡︎

I always knew i wasnt like all the others.

I knew i was different when my my cheeks turned hot and rosy around Bill Denbrough in the second grade.

I knew i was different when I found out Suzy Mcgliyer asked me out and I didnt feel even the slightest spark in my heart for her.

And i definitetly knew i was different when i held hands with Mike Hanlon and my heart soared. I just felt... right.

But it wasnt only my crazed heart that made me different.

My mom was insanly overbearing. She wouldnt let me out of the house past 7:00 pm. I was to come straight home from school and sit at the table while she checked my temperature and fussed over me. She had to know all of my friends and had to know their parents too. On the weekends I only had two hours to spend with my friends before I had to spend the rest of the day with her. I had to follow a strict diet and take all of my pills on time or I would have to take a visit to the hospital immediately before " my body failed" or some shit like that.

But the worst part of it all was the rule that she pushed on me the most.

I wasn't allowed to date.

Not at all. Or not while I was still in school at least . When I was 13 she made it very clear I was not to let another person steal my heart until I was out of college. So I was 17 year old boy who still hadn't had another pair of lips touch my own. It was pathetic but there was no way I was going up against my moms rule.

My mom knew EVERYTHING about me.

Except for one thing.

Me and my friends are in a band, we don't get a lot of fans but it's still super fun. I'm the lead singer, Beverly Marsh handles the backing vocals, Ben Hascom plays the keyboard, Mike Hanlon plays the drums, his boyfriend, Bill Denbrough, is the main guitarist and Stanley Uris manages all of the gigs we book and handles everything backstage.

It's the only thing that helps me forget my mundane lifestyle in the small town we live in, Derry,Maine. Everyone here knows everything about everyone so you really have to be careful what you talk people about and who you trust. All of the people who live here are super close minded, except for my friends of course.

I haven't really told them about my confused heart but I plan on telling them soon, I can trust them right?

So at the moment we are setting up in Bill's garage. The " lovers " , as we call our band, have been working on a new album but we can quite figure out what to base it on. Stan thinks we should have a whole album on birds... I love the guy but that idea is baloney.

All of the sudden Bev runs in holding a small paper flyer. " Guys! Take a look at this!" She says panting out of breath from running so much. We all gather up and take a look at the paper.

" DO YOU THING YOUR BAND HAS WHAT IT TAKES TO BE NUMBER ONE IN THE STATE? THEN SIGNUP FOR BATTLE OF THE BANDS! A MONTH LONG COMPETITION FOR THE TITLE OF BEST BAND IN STATE! FIRST ELIMINATION PERFORMANCE TAKES PLACE IN DERRY, MAINE THIS WEEKEND! SIGN UP BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!"

Beverly's bright aqua eyes glanced around too take a glance at everyone's reactions. The rest of the band looked at her. " Well?! What do you guys think?" She asked enthusiastically. Stan spoke up " it would be a great opportunity to get more of a following..." he said with a bit of hesitation in his voice. Everyone nodde in agreement. I was over the moon about this idea! Who would refuse a shot at the title of best band of state?! That's when I remembered my mom... that's why everyone was looking at me.

"Well let's do it!" I blurted out. Everyone looked at me with somber expressions " B-but your m-mom.." Bill said. I thought about it for a while. I wasn't going to risk a perfectly good opportunity because of my moms stupid rules.

" I'll deal with her later" I said smiling. Ben has a small smile spread across his face. " well you heard him, let's do this!" Mike said excitedly.

It's just a performance, what could go wrong?
