I'm Madison Avery, you can call me Maddie. I grew up in a small town in Michigan with my mom

and older brother. We moved to San Diego after my dad died. It was hard, but I stayed strong for

my mom. Tomorrow is the first day of high school. New people, no friends, just me and my

brother. This is the story of how I met a girl.

" Maddie!" My mom yelled. I heard her, but I didn't move.

I just layed there, not wanting to go.

" Maddison, get up." She said while peeking her head in a bit.

I quietly grunted as I rolled out of bed. I walked over to my closet to find something to wear.

" Dress or pants?" I asked myself.

" Pants." I said grabbing a pair off the hanger.

Knock knock

The door slowly creep open.

" Hey, Maddie can I talk to you?" Cameron asked.

" Sure, what's up?" I said as I grab a flannel from the closet.

" Are you nervous?" He asked.

" I am." I started. " But I have you, you're the only person I need."

" What if we don't see each other?" He sounded worried.

I smiled and looked down at my neck. Pulling the necklace that we gave each other on

Christmas years ago.

" We will be connected, remember we don't have to see each other, to know that we're there." I

said.

He held his necklace in his hand before kissing it and walking out. I went to the bathroom to get

ready for school.
