IT WAS EASY TO IGNORE THE REALITY AROUND YOU, if a person wanted to shut their mind off, be illogical and simply ignore the problems around them, they could.

it was easy, actually.

thats a lie, no its not.

its easy up until your problems were to catch up to you.

lexie tried to shut her brain off, she tried to ignore her destructive and impulsive urges that were only growing stronger and stronger as the clock ticked a new second into her reality.

she was trying... to distract herself.

time had passed since lexies run in with phoenix at the club, a bit of time actually.

"uhh, i don't think thats how you do it" a now, nineteen year old miles scooted on the ground and leaned over from beside lexie to look at her piece of paper she had been scribbling on.

they had been doing arts and crafts to occupy lexie from her growing want and urge to be anything but sober.

except lexies paper looked like a dark, scribbled, hot mess.

"you said this was to empty my mind, i'm emptying my mind." she stated like it was obvious before she grabbed a pen and scribbled on the paper harder.

"this looks like it would be on a documentary of a serial killer with some white ass parents saying 'we saw no signs'." he shot back quickly, causing her face to fall as she shot a quick glare over to him.

"i'm serious, talk to me, tell me whats going on." he gave her a genuine look, making lexie turn her head to face him before a smirk grew on her face, "look at you, being all soft with me." she teased, making miles glare straight at her.

"i'm being serious lexie." miles gave her a knowing look. "so am i, i didn't expect my fuck buddy to care about me this much" she said through a laugh as she let her back fall against her bed frame.

miles' eyes widened quickly.

"i'm your what buddy?" he repeated in horror, making lexie turn her head to face him, "fuck buddy, keep up." she snapped her fingers like she hardly even said anything at all.

"since when do we fuck?" he genuinely asked, wondering where this label for them even stemmed from, and why, considering they had never crossed that line or been close to crossing that line.

"we don't, but we can." she said so casually, like she wasn't implying something so vulgar.

"...when?" miles raised a brow as he looked around the room carefully,

"wanna right now?" a wide smile made its way on her face, the tone of her voice was half joking, half not, she quickly lunged at miles as she spoke, tackling him onto the ground as his back laid flat on the floor.
