Chapter 1

"Ms. Iris?" Simone knocked on my door

Simone is my personal maid and goes everywhere with me. She treats me like royalty but I treat her more like a friend.

"Yeah?" 

She enters my room and smiles at me, "Your mother said I should get you ready for the mating today with Alpha Knox," she says

I have been in Alpha Knox's territory countless times, but only because I have a thing with his beta. Yep, I'm fucking his beta.

"Tell her I said no thanks," I reply

I am 20, I don't want a mate, let alone need one. I thought my mom wouldn't let me go since I got into a fight yesterday. A girl tested me and didn't respect me. She said I'm a phony and she doesn't care about where I rank. So, I broke her nose, her wrist, her leg and she has countless scars and bruises all over her body.

"She said I can not allow you not to go," Simone says

I mindlink my mom, "I'm not going to any matings," I say

"You are going. No, if, ands, or buts about it," she replies

"Why?"

"Because you're 20 and you need a mate, be here in 15 minutes,"

"No, I don't!"

"You're going, end of the discussion," she closes the link

'What if we finally find our mate?' Maya, my Lycan asks

'I don't want a fucking mate' I reply

She huffs before going deep into my head, refusing to talk to me. I sigh putting on a pair of jeans and a tight pink shirt which slight flows out at the bottom. I put on white sneakers before running a hand through my black hair which was dyed lilac, except for my roots, which were black,

Simone follows me downstairs and I go to the hall where they hold the matings. My mom looks at me as I walk in. Every girl is wearing a tight short dress like they are going out clubbing. I walk over and line up clenching my jaw.

"Where is Natalie?" my mom asks

Oh, that's why I didn't get in trouble. She didn't even know I brutally hurt the girl. 

Everyone looks at me and I smile putting my hands behind my back. I flash my mom my knuckles and she rolls her eyes, "So, there was a little bit of physical altercation," I say sheepishly

My mom was about to speak but Alpha Knox's beta, Dylan walks in telling us Alpha Knox isn't far behind him. My mom's eyes meet mine and she mindlinks me.

"we will talk about this later,"

The doors open and I hear footsteps and his smell hits me all the way from the door.

"Fuck," I curse lightly

My mom looks at me and I smile before turning to leave, "Brid," I hear my father's voice

"Yes, Alpha?" I don't turn around

"Where do you think you're going?" he asks

"Ummmm," I drag, "I need to conduct business," I tell him

It's what we say when we need to poop in our family. That's when I saw Austin, my half brother standing next to my mom whispering, why is Austin here? Doesn't he have teaching to do?

"Then-" my dad starts

"Don't let her go yet," I hear Knox's deep voice, "Might be her,"

"I assure you it is most definitely not me," I don't turn around
