CHAPTER ONE~ THE OAK TREE 🌳

Liam's POV

I practically grew up in the Calloway estate. My father was business partners with Mr. Calloway, one of the wealthiest men in the city, and since I was the future heir to my family name, I was expected to spend time there and "build connections." .But honestly, I never cared about that. I only cared about her.

Aria.

The girl trapped in that house like some kind of princess locked in a tower. She was different from other girls. Quiet, intelligent, and fragile — always sitting by her window, brushing her long blonde hair or reading books that I could never understand. She rarely spoke to anyone, except maybe her younger sister, Nathalie.

Nathalie was the one I was forced to spend time with. A baby-faced tomboy who looked way too cute to pull off the tough act she always tried to put on.
She'd run around in baggy clothes, climb trees, and
tackle me to the ground whenever she saw me. This happened every-time I visited for some reason,

maybe she likes me. But it's hard to tell since she's friendly with everyone, the only difference?, maybe the fact that she follows me around, calling me her "future husband" and giggling every time I tell her to leave me alone. She can be quite annoying, the only reason I show up every weekend, is to catch a glimpse of Aria. A fragile little thing that would watch me and Nathalie playing as she propped sorrow at her window sill,

I had never seen her before. Not up close atleast.
I would always watch her from afar.  As she sweetly smiled at me from her window on the second floor, one day, Nathalie was late from school. And I was left basking in the sun, laying on the grass waiting for her.
I looked up at the sun, noticing aria at her window, leaning over her balcony ,smiling down at me,as her golden hair was blown away by the wind, slipping over her shoulder as she gestured for me to come up.

"Huh?" I muttered, confused. since all she would normally do is watch me, "Liam,come up"she said,  I sat up, surprised that this beauty could actually talk. But immediately agreed knowing this was a rare opportunity, "she knows my name"I smile to myself.  Feeling giddy as I got up and made my way inside,

Finding her room was harder than I thought. The hallways twisted in ways I didn't expect, and I nearly opened the wrong door twice before she appeared at the top of the stairs, suppressing a laugh. She presses  her fingers against her lips to shush me. I smile, following behind her,  "my room is a mess, I'm just letting you know" she blushed, halting at her bedroom door before letting me in. But when I entered, the sight of scattered books and stuffies made me chuckle. This is exactly what I expected.

"Cute" I smile, glancing around her room. Before plopping onto her bed, she sits right beside me, staring intently before running her soft hand down my face, then through my hair. "You're so pretty"she smiled, softly stroking my cheeks, "what! never seen a boy before"I chuckle, she just looks away shyly. Before shoving a portrait in my hand.

"Liam, I drew you"she said softly, I looked at the portrait, it was me. Playing by the tree. Looking up at her with a sweet smile. "wow, this is quite impressive"I smile, "I'll cherish it forever". She blushed to my words. Pulling me into a tight hug. I layed there for twenty minutes as she fell asleep on my chest. it was the sweetest thing I've ever seen, I softly stroked her hair as she silently snored beside me.

Overtime... She'd teach me things—about history, literature, and even music. Even as kids, she seemed older, wiser... like she belonged in some other world that I couldn't reach. I felt a connection with her, even if we barely spoke. But I wasn't allowed to see her often. Mr. Calloway said Aria was born sickly, that she was too fragile to play outside. So while I was stuck with Nathalie, Aria remained hidden away,
