"Yeah, I can go," Sodapop messes with Ponyboy's hair, "I'll finally get rid of the brothers."

"Of course it's Soda," Two-Bit rolls his eyes.

"Huh?" I look at him.

"N-Nothing," Two-Bit shrugs.

Obviously it wasn't nothing. It probably had something to do with what they were talking about while I was resting on the rock. I guess I'll never know now. Soda and I start walking home. It starts drizzling, so we walk under the trees as the rain gets heavier and heavier. Over halfway into the drive, a white car slows down besides us.

"Hey, choice!" A soc shouts from the window, "What're you doin' with the gas station boy? He's an idiot. Y'know, he'll work there his whole life since the only class he passed this year is auto mechanics."

"I'm not an idiot," Sodapop stands up for himself.

"Oh yeah?" The other soc asks, "How far away is the sun?"

"Ninety-three million miles," Sodapop smirks.

"Is that true?" One of the socs whispers, the other shrugs.

"Yeah," Sodapop nods, "And the diameter of the sun is eight hundred and seventy thousand miles which makes it one hundred and nine times wider than the earth.. aaand three hundred and thirty-three thousand times heavier than the earth-"

"Shut up about the sun!" The soc starts to drive faster, "Shut. Up. About the. SUN!"

I turn to Sodapop and he's wearing a shit eating grin. After laughing for a while, I finally calm down.

"Sodapop Patrick Curtis!" I take his hand, "You're absolutely brilliant!"

"Studying with you really paid off," He shrugs, rubbing his thumb over one of my knuckles.

"Wasn't the sun fifth grade science?" I tilt my head.

He stays quiet for a second, "Hey! I really told those socs off didn't I?"

"There faces were hilarious," I nod, biting my lip.

"I guess they were just jealous because I'm with such a beautiful girl," Soda smiles.

"You're with a beautiful girl or your with a beautiful girl?" I ask playfully.

"Well.." He looks down, "Which one do you want?"

I blush as the rain starts to pour heavier, "I-Um.. what?"

"Y/N," Soda takes a deep breath, "You're the most gorgeous, intelligent, sweet, and loving person I know."

"Go on," I say, starting to back up closer to the tree to get out of the rain, still holding Soda's hand.

"It's crazy how you're single," He continues, "And seeing as how technically the reason I'm single is because my ex was jealous of how amazing you are, so I think you owe me one."

"I owe you one?" I tilt my head, "Meaning?"

Soda puts one hand behind me on the tree trunk, and leans in, "I was thinking we should go steady."

He leans closer and finally connects our lips. If I told you that fireworks were set off, it would be an understatement. Soda puts his free hand on my waist and I tangle my fingers in his hair. I can't believe it's happening. A kiss in the rain AND under a tree? Talk about romantic. Sodapop breaks the kiss and steps back, waiting for my answer.

"I think you know the answer," I tell him, pulling one side of his red button-up and kissing him again.

We walk to my house with his arm around my waist. He opens the door for me and lets me step in. I take two towels and we clean up the trail of water we left. I feed Mickey and give her new bedding while Sodapop plays with her, he seems to really like her. Then we both take a shower(not together). Then we lay down and cuddle with Mickey, who's laying at the foot of the bed in her blanket.

"Hey, Y/N," Soda puts an arm over me, "Just so you know, I'm plannin' on making you the happiest girl that Tulsa's ever seen."

I smile at him, "That's funny, because when I'm with you, I already am."

Soda gives me a quick kiss, "I guess this is happily ever after, huh."

"Let's see what's after ever after," I wink.
