Hundreds of years after the first avatar Wan and Raava were bonded, the world was expecting their new avatar. He or she was to be born within the Earth kingdom as the cycle predicted. The tale of Yin and Yang takes place outside north Ba Sing Se, very close to the Northern Air Temple.

On a clear dark night in the northern Earth Kingdom stood a small straw hut. The hut was almost hidden in the forest with only the faint glow of a candle within the walls exposing itself under the moon. Although the outside was quite peaceful, what was happening inside would change the world forever.

"Push Fang Qi push!" Cried the woman. She appeared to be an elder with grey hair sloppily hugged into a bun. She crouched on the floor with the head of a baby in her hands.

"Almost there... got him!" She declared with relief. She began carefully wiping down the baby and wrapping him up in an off-white knit blanket. The baby's bright green eyes watered and the sounds of painful screams were replaced by the baby's cries.

"I-I'm not done yet," grunted Fang Qi. The elder woman quickly placed the boy babe in pile of straw and returned to help deliver again.

"Twins! This one is a beautiful girl," she cheered with a wide grin. Both of the new borns rested in the straw. Their eyelids hid their similar grass-toned eyes, and their short thin brown hair blew calmly with the breeze.

"Fang Qi what will you name them? They're precious." The woman softly spoke. But, Fang Qi only grunted in return.

"I don't care, you choose, we're leaving them here in the morning anyway." Fang Qi spoke coldly. She turned away from her children and the woman and slowly fell asleep.

"I know just what to call you." The woman whispered. She began carefully knitting small letters on both of their blankets. On the boy's blanket she engraved "Yang", and on the girl's "Yin".

"Yin and Yang, may you grow up strong and honorable."
