"Nereus stop her!" I whined and stomped my foot as my sister got ready for her date.

"Dude, you know it'll only be one date. Nobody's ever good enough for two." Nereus laughed as they came in from their room and started helping Harmonia pick an outfit.

It was kind of true. Harmonia was known for being difficult to even get a first date with and a second date was yet to be heard of.

"Men ain't worth my time!" she called out her iconic line as I left her room for mine.

I'll never forget the first time I heard it.

In 8th grade she had just had a seizure after Allan pushed her over then insisted, she had to go to the school dance with him because who else would go with "the seizure girl". Much to my dismay, she shook me off as I tried to help her up. She looked him dead in the eye and told him "it doesn't matter who wants to go with this bombshell beauty because men ain't worth my time" before shuffling off to the nurse's office.

She's been known for her confidence ever since.

I've been worried for her since her first seizure, I still try to protect her from the world, but moments like that make me question if she actually needs me to be worried. I worry away anyway.

When her date arrived, I raced to the door to greet him before Harmonia could. My selective sister didn't tend to pick dirtbags but if you wanted to go on a date with my sister you had to meet me first and make me believe you knew what to do if she had a seizure while I wasn't around.

Before we moved out dad always did the same thing, but I was always by his side as he did so.

This Mac fellow seemed to be aware of what to do, not that that brought me much comfort with her venturing off without me or Nereus by her side.

Before I knew it Nereus was shoving me to the side and shoving Harmonia out of the door and onto her date. Wild curls blowing around in the wind as she made her way further from the house.

I sat at the breakfast bar and stared at the navy-blue feature wall while Nereus cooked us dinner. Harmonia said I needed it as the kitchen stresses me out and blue is supposed to calm people down. It was ridiculous and I hated it, but I would never tell my darling angel sister that.

When we moved into what we call the solo house, as in flying solo from the parents, I let Harmonia have most control of the décor.

Nereus made their room barely blue, I made mine black, grey and a touch of red, but Harmonia went all out.

She loves gold most and she made that clear. Her room had cream walls with a giant gold 'Lily of Incas' with gold butterflies surrounding it. The living room just had to have a gold feature wall where the television sat with tan furniture. One bathroom was pastel mint, the other pastel yellow. She even got me to go outside and paint the outer trimming of the house pink to go with the white walls. I gave an inch and she took a mile but Nereus and I couldn't and wouldn't ever complain.

Nereus had a chill night in that night, we ate dinner in front of the TV which played 'Stick It' because Nereus loved the 'badassery' of it and we sat on our phones while we waited for Harmonia to return. I never went to bed until I knew she was safely in hers.

Before I knew it, it was 11pm and we could hear somebody pounding on the front door. We opened in it to see Mac who seemed worried and Harmonia who seemed stoic and unbothered as she tends to after a seizure, but I knew she was actually annoyed.

"Thanks Mac, we've got it from here." I farewelled him as Harmonia entered and plonked herself on the couch.

Good luck getting a second date, I thought to myself as he walked away seemingly disappointed.

"You okay kiddo?" I asked as I sat myself next to my sister.

"I'm not a kid." She grumbled as she shuffled off to her room.

"Don't worry, I'm going now. I'll see how she's doing." Nereus held their hands up as they followed the path Harmonia just took.

I was especially thankful for Nereus in times like this.

I could only support Harmonia through what she'd allow me to and sometimes her strong-willed nature just shut me out from these things, but she always opens up to Nereus.
