Chapter 15

RECAP:

Jared looked at me with wide eyes, "Uhm, Ally what are you doing here?"

"It doesn't matter, looks like i'm leaving." I said sarcastically.

I started to leave, but Jared grabbed my arm, "Let me explain."

I was about to leave, but his pleading eyes convinced me to hear him out.

Bianca left the room with an annoyed expression because she knew we needed to talk.

"I can't believe you fucking stood me up. I thought we were going to the office tonight, but your too busy banging some girl to even care." I snarled.

"Ally, listen-"

"I can't believe I thought you actually wanted to help me. You knew how important it was finding out the truth." I spat at him.

I could feel tears starting to form in my eyes.

"Allison, it's not what it looks like, I didn't-" He tried to explain but I cut him off.

"And you couldn't call or text me? It doesn't matter anyway. Have fun with your night. We're done here. And by the way, I don't need your help, I can figure this out on my own."

He grabbed my arm but I pulled it away.

I stormed out of my house and tears began to fall down my eyes. I couldn't figure out what hurt me the most; him planning a romantic night with a girl or ditching me when he knew how much I wanted answers.

I wiped my tears and went inside my car.

I guess I'm alone after all.

Chapter 15

I got into the car and wiped some more tears off my face. I needed to be strong and not let some boy get in the way of the truth. I turned on the engine and drove out of the neighboorhood.

I kept driving and pulled up to my dad's office. I wasn't sure how I memorized it exactly, since I've been barely there. I couldn't help but remember it as I was a kid.

Tonight hopefully I would be getting some answers. I got out and grabbed my flashlight. It was a little dark, so I needed it.

I decided to come from the back of the building, incase anyone was still inside before I went in. I turned my flashlight on and got out of the car. I slowly walked and went inside. Wow, no security or anything. Nice going Dad.

I went inside and looked in awe. The office/building was huge. I kept walking until I was interrupted by voices. I looked curiously around trying to find the source of the noise. I kept walking towards the employees' offices and stopped. I read the name "Courtney"

I looked in confusion and tried to open the door handle. It was locked. Shit. I found a bobby pin in my hair and tried to unlock the door. After a minute of trying to open it, It finally worked and I got inside. The room smelled like paper and dust.

It was pretty clean, as if someone was using this office. But that isn't possible, Courtney is dead. I closed the door behind me and walked around her desk. There was a frame of Kayla, Courtney and Cameron. I looked in shock.

Kayla use to look so different.

She was wearing glasses and had blonde hair. She was wearing no makeup and was actually smiling genuinely. What happened to her?

I sat down on her chair and tried to open the drawer with force.

"Dammit." I cussed. It wouldn't open.

I gave up after a few minutes and decided to look through the shelf. I found a box and layed it down on the desk.

I looked through it, but couldn't find anything. I sighed. Nothing was here that could be useful.

I went back to her desk and tried to open the drawer and it finally opened. I looked through all the files and my jaw dropped when I saw what was inside.

A picture of Jared. Why would it be in her drawer? I heard some voices from the building and panicked. I stuffed everything back inside but took the picture and shoved it in my pocket. I slammed the drawer closed but I couldn't move. My shirt got stuck inside the drawer.

The footsteps got closer and i desperately tried to open the drawer to get my shirt off of it. I kept on desperately trying but it wouldn't work.

I pulled as hard as I could and finally it opened. I quickly got up and made sure everything was back to normal. I closed the office door and tip toed through the building. I heard a few footsteps and stopped. I kept walking and finally I heard a voice.

It was jane.

I kept walking slowly to see her talking to a man. I couldn't see who it was at first, but then I walked closer to find Cameron, Kayla's brother.

I was so confused, why would she be talking to him? I kept on walking but almost slipped from the floor. It made a sound and I squealed, trying to regain my balance. Cameron and Jane looked around.

Jane started to panick, "We have to go. Someone else is in here."

Cameron grabbed her waist, "Relax, babe it's just us."

I looked in shock. Jane was cheating on Josh. That bitch.

Jane nodded and started to kiss him passionately.

I shook my head in disgust. I can't believe this. What were they doing in my dad's building anyway? Why was kayla's brother here. And why was he with jane?

I shook my head and found an escape door. I'd have to find out more later. I couldn't think right now after what had happened with Jared.

I had to find out what is going on, before its too late.
