For some people, the first day of school is an opportunity to make other people jealous. Its like a fashion runway except with winy teenage girls. I've seen girls spend hours trying to pick out a simple outfit. See, girls like that I tend to stay clear of and vise versa, but Mina Banks, oh Mina. She was by far the most beautiful girl in school. She was head of cheer leading and the volleyball team. She could make anyone swoon into doing her dirty work. I happened to be one of those people that break their backs under her manipulative powers.

"Okay so this year I have chemistry, geometry, peace studies, and journalism. I have cheer practice everyday after school so, I need you to do all of my homework and projects. Oh! I almost forgot. I need you to make me a cheat sheet for every test that I will have," Mina ended with the batting of her eyelashes.

She stood there waiting for my acceptance to her crazy ass offer, while I was waiting for my brain to catch up with my mouth.

All of a sudden, my best friend of 13 years placed herself in front of me.

"Get lost you twat!" Bridgit has always hated Mina, maybe she was jealous, but I wouldn't dare ask.

"I wasn't speaking to you whore," Mina retorted and turned her attention back to me. "Pretty please, Nash."

Before I could get my answer out she was holding my cheek in her perfectly manicured hand.

"I think I can do it," I breathed knowing I will soon regret.

"OMG yay! Thank you Nashy! You should totally come to my party Friday night, but don't bring her," she glared at Bridgit.

I looked at her to see if she was okay with it.

"Whatever. I didn't wanna go anyway," Bridgit spoke through clenched teeth.

"I'll have him back before 2," Mina snorted.

I'm in 3rd block and all I can think think about was that stupid party.

"Nash, care to answer what's on the board," my math teacher scowled.

With one glance at the board,"89 units sir."

I knew I was right because he mumbled to himself. The bell rang and I made sure to grin at him on the way out.

"Your dumbass had to be smart now we only have lunch together," Tyler said slightly pushing my shoulder.

He is also my best friend he moved here in 3rd grade. Bridgit and I immediately fell in love with him because of his outrageously funny intuitive demeanor.

"Don't hate the player, hate the game."

I got in line and purchased my food so that I could sit at my usual spot. One table away from the exit door.

As soon as my only best friends sat down I blurted,"I have to have Mina."

I notice Bridgit tense up,"What do you want us to do? Be your fairy godmothers? Get real Grier." She stood up and walked away.

Tyler and I knew where she was gonna be but I knew she wanted to be alone.

"I wish I could be one of them," I nodded to the bonehead jocks.

"I think I can help you," he said it so diabolicaly.

And then I knew he had a plan.

"Hey Bridgit!" I tapped her shoulder as I caught up to her.

When she turned around her eyes was rimmed with redness and puffiness. Her cheeks were tear stained with fresh ones forming in her eyes.

"Do you think I'm p-pretty?" She asked looking into my eyes.

The question came out of nowhere, but I answered anyways. "Bridgit you are beautiful and my best friend and that's how it's always gonna be," I pulled her into a hug and rested my chin on top of her dry blonde hair.

"Bridge your hair smells funny," I held back a laugh, her hair always smells like peaches, but it was now replaced with the smell of sewage.

"I know," she huffed into my chest.

"Are you gonna tell me why, Missy?" I lifted her chin so she could look at me.

"Nope," she nuzzled her head into my chest. We stood there for at least five minutes.

"Let's get pizza with Ty!" she exclaimed and dragged me by my hand.
