"It's not our fault you boys can't dance." Colette giggled into the phone.
"Yeah, both of you have two left feet." Talia added.
They were almost at the hotel; the tall buildings of San Diego now surrounded them.
"Whatever..." Adam's voice came through. "... We'll have much more fun going out and picking up chicks without you guys all weekend."
"You go do that." Talia said, smirking once she saw that her mom was pulling into the hotel parking lot.
"Yeah! We're going to party hard." Felix laughed.
"Okay, while you guys 'party mad hard,' which we know actually means sitting on your asses and doing nothing until we get back because you guys are loners, Talia and I will be busy becoming superstars." Colette laid it out for them, causing them to sigh in defeat.
"Pretty much." Adam admitted.
"Okay, we'll talk to you guys later. We just got here."
"Have fun." The two boys said with not much enthusiasm at all. Colette ended the call and jumped out of the car as soon as it was put on park.
"I'm trusting you girls to be on your best behavior!" Talia's mom yelled over her shoulder. She was barely heard over the two girls scrambling for their luggage. "If anything happens, you call 911 first, then me! I can come down here real fast."
"Oh, Tamara." Colette came around to her once they were both out of the car. "When have I ever let you down?"
"It's not you I'm worried about, Colette," She smiled at the shorter girl, then slowly shot a glare at her daughter. "It's her that always gets into trouble."
Talia rolled her eyes and held on tight to her luggage. "I'll try my best, Mom. Let's go check in."
The three of them entered the beautiful hotel. It had a simple concierge desk, but a grand staircase leading up to the second floor, which they had learned was an entire arcade through previous research of the place. Talia's mom took care of the check in, then handed the two girls a keycard each for their hotel room.
"Fifth floor, room 307. Please don't make me regret this." Tamara sighed as the girls looked at each other mischievously. "You know I wouldn't even be letting you do this if it weren't Talia's birthday."
"We know, we'll be on our best behavior, we promise-"
"We do?" Talia crossed her arms.
"We do, if you want her to leave." Colette whispered, then faked a huge smile for Tamara who simply shook her head.
"This was a terrible idea. But, you two will have to learn to be independent, anyway. Plus, Ava told me there will be many chaperones around the hotel, so that's probably the last slice of hope I have that you two won't get into too much trouble."
"We'll be fiiiine!" Colette reassured her, giving her a goodbye hug. "Thank you again, Tamara, for letting us do this, and convincing my mom, too."
Talia gave her mother a hug in turn, "See you on Monday."
They both waved at Tamara until she was back into the van and out of sight. Talia turned to Colette with the most wicked look on her face.
"We're finally alone. Let's get the weekend started."
