I never really got the point of school. My name is Izuki, and I'm not a fan of last names. They are pointless to me despite everyone seeming to have one.
I guess I should give my background and whatnot for you. I never knew my parents, I was orphaned at a young age and grew up at the orphanage going in and out of foster families due to me being "too dangerous". I am 6'2 and my pitch black hair is always falling just barely into my unnatural red eyes to the point where it is annoying, but oh well. Im average build, so not too muscular but I don't look like a toothpick. Oh, I forgot to mention that I can use the Arcane.
This world is full of people who are able to use what most call "magic". Of course not everyone has the ability to use it but that doesn't stop those with it to gain more power and influence over those without. Along with these magically acclimated people came the Academies where people that reach the age of eighteen from all over the world attend to to be able to further research and learn how to use their individually unique magic.
And me? I just turned eighteen and was kicked out of the orphanage without hesitation due to my magic. So here I am at the Arcane Academy checking into my dorms.

"Sir, may I check your bag?"
Izuki looked back up from the paper he was filling out for the enrollment and gave the security officer a "not interested" look.
"Why? I don't see you checking anyone else's," and went back to scribbling information.
The officer got out of his seat and walked around the counter and got into Izuki's face, "It's because it looks like a sword sheathe and all lethal weapons need to be checked in first." At this the officer proceeded to grab the long thin bag that was slung over Izuki's shoulder.
Izuki turned so that the officer only grabbed at air. "*sigh*, fine, here you go." He slung the bag off his shoulder and rested it onto the counter. After unhooking the button at the top, he slid out a black rod about three feet long with gold circles that tipped each end.
Izuki looked back at the officer, "Does this look lethal to you?"
"No sir, I'm sorry how I acted, just doing my job." And with that the officer went back around the counter and finished checking Izuki's papers.
"You're all set, sir. Please enjoy your stay here at the Arcane Academy."
With a swift nod, Izuki picked up the rest of his stuff and proceeded down the corridor with a map in hand to find his dorm.
Even though he had the assistance of a map, Izuki still got lost multiple times due to the labyrinth-like corridors that intertwined within the halls of the massive academy.
The academy itself was beautiful. It is one of three in the world. With high towers with no particular pattern seeming to touch the clouds and vast parks and training grounds that were both used to practice either the more weaponized or supportive Arcane. On the map it showed multiple areas for eating, entertainment such as movie theaters and malls, and even a massive swim pool located in the East wing. The most astounding thing on the map that Izuki noticed was the massive rooms labeled "Classroom" in every single wing of the academy that were all used in either research or training. Since everyone at the academy had already gone to basic school for mathematics, history, etc., there was little to no need to learn any more besides the further development of arcane uses.
After nearly an hour of searching, Izuki finally managed to find his room in the boy's dorms located in the Northwest wing. He quickly entered the room and closed the door swiftly, dropping all of his bags as soon as he found sanctuary in his new home for the next who knows how many years.
Upon turning around, he took in the layout of the room. It was decent size, with enough space for two people to live comfortably on either side. There was a large bay window at the far wall that lead out to a small deck overlooking the lake that the academy was built next to. To his immediate left, there was a bathroom with a walk in shower, sauna, and two stalls in case both occupants of the room needed to go to the bathroom at once. Nice of them. And to the right was a decent sized lounge area where people are able to watch tv, play games, or just read next to the fireplace that was placed opposite of the couch that had a 47 inch flat-screen tv installed on top.
I wonder where they got the money to build all of this.
That's when Izuki heard the faint noise coming from the back right room that he assumed was one of the bedrooms. He picked up his baggage and placed it next to the bedroom door on the left side and went to investigate the noise. Upon opening the door he saw what he assumed to be his roommate slumped back in a desk chair snoring his head off.
The guy was roughly 5'10 with dirty blond hair and glasses that were at the moment sliding down his head. On the desk was a book about ki and how different flows of ki could result in different affects of one's arcane.
Izuki creaked the door open a little more and with a loud yelp the guy in the chair sprung his head back up, accidentally hitting the desk with his nose and falling into a heap on the floor.
"OUCH! Fucking hell! That hurt more than it should've." The guy clutched his nose for a second before looking up to see Izuki. After standing up and making sure his nose wasn't broken or bleeding, he introduced himself.
"My name is Emile Windhorn. First year here and a research wannabe to study and improve all fields of Arcane." Emile opens out his hand with a grin on his face that was definitely too big for his face.
"Uh, nice to meet your acquaintance. I'm Izuki, Arcane user." Izuki didn't take the shake due to not having any social skills whatsoever and proceeded to turn away to go to his room and border himself up until classes start tomorrow.
Emile didn't let him have the chance. "You wanna go somewhere? Since we are going to be roomies and whatnot for the next few years."
He tried getting in the way of Izuki, but Izuki sped up and was already at the other room.
Before entering his room, Izuki turned around and quietly said "Maybe some other time." And retreated to the safety of his new home.
*sighs*
In the safety of his room now, Izuki was finally able to relax from all the crowds and people and noises and everything that he hated already. Tossing his stuff on the bed and pulling out his books and school supplies for note taking and whatnot from the supply bags, he neatly organized them on the corner desk that wrapped around in the corner under the window overlooking the lake. Upon turning on the light, the room seemed to have a more warm feel to it and almost made to welcome those who would be staying there.
After putting everything in the bags away on the desk and cupboard, Izuki finally slumped into the bed, springing up a little at the softness of it. I never knew beds could be like this. Probably cause I spent most of my life in a poor orphanage. And before he knew it, he began drifting off into a deep sleep from all the exhaustion from the day.
