My brother was going to leave me again. Sure it was with my adoptive foster family and they were really nice people, but I wanted to be with my brother. He was one of the few people I had left. Him and his daughter, my niece Casie are the only blood related family that I've got left. I didn't know what to do, I didn't want him to leave me, so I started to hit my head. I did it over and over again, hard enough for my head to bleed a little from my nails scratching against it. "Stop!", Colson yelled at me, but I didn't, I just kept hitting myself. Soon I felt him put his arms around me and bring me into his embrace to stop me from hurting myself. I struggled against him angrily. "Stop Carter," Colson said. I broke down crying in his arms, bringing my arms around him and hugged him tightly, afraid that if I didn't I would lose him. We stood there for a while in silence. Rook, Slim, and Baze waited in their car for Colson and my foster parents stood at the stairs in front of the house. "Please don't leave me," I said in a sad tone of voice. Colson sighed and said "I have to." I stopped hugging him and this time I punched him in the chest and said "No you don't!" "Carter," Colson sighed. I hit him again and again, saying "Stop saying you can't! I know you can!" Colson caught my fists and went to bring me into his embrace. I cried struggling against him. I was mad at him and so sad at the same time. I wanted to hurt him, I wanted to make him feel the pain that I was feeling, I just didn't want to lose him. He managed to bring me back into his arms, with my arms in between us, with the only option they could go was down by my sides or around his waist. I squished my face into his chest and cried. Finally I said "Please don't leave Colson, please don't abandon me. Don't abandon me, like mom abandoned us." It was silent for a bit longer, but then Colson broke the silence saying "Rook come here." I wasn't sure what was going on, but then Colson released his grip on me and I was now in Rook's arms. I cried out to Colson, thinking he was going to leave me and struggled in Rook's arms. Slim came over and helped Rook calm me down. They both held me in their arms as I cried and watched Colson and Baze walk over to my foster parents, Rodger and Maggie.

(Colson's point of view)

Baze and I walked over to Carter's foster parents and I said "I'm going to take Carter with me." Rodger said "Colson, I don't think that's the best idea. I mean you don't really have the best track record." I knew what he meant and that's usually why I always brought Carter back, no matter how much it broke my heart to leave her, I was always doing it out of love. But what she said to me, it broke my heart much more. I can't leave her now, it would just be wrong. I looked back at Carter, seeing tears stream down her face and a look of distress. How she was fighting Rook and Slim's embrace and then I looked back at Rodger and Maggie and said "Then go tell Carter she can't come with me, because I refuse to break her heart anymore." Maggie looked at Carter and then at Rodger and said "Rodger let him take her. You see how sad she is. Let her be with her brother." Rodger sighed and looked over at Carter before saying "Fine you can take her. Come inside so you can sign the papers and get her things." I thanked them, before Baze and I followed them inside their house. Maggie went to get the papers, as Rodger led us to Carter's room. Her room looked really nice. It was good to know that they truly were taking good care of her. She had a lot more stuff then I thought though, so I told Roger that I'd send some people to come pack it up and take it. For the meantime, I took her backpack and put some things that I'm sure she'd like to have with her, I'd buy the things she needed until all of her stuff arrived. I put her laptop, laptop charger, phone charger, wallet, earbuds, writing journal, sketchbook, pencil bag, and her stuffed animal dog that she loved that I got her on one of the visits I had with her when she was younger. I closed up her backpack and Baze and I made our way back into the living room. Maggie and Roger had it all set up. The papers for me to officially become Carter's legal gardien were right there. Maggie and Rodger signed them first and then it was my turn. I was a bit nervous and unsure, this was a big commitment, but I mean I have a kid already. I know how to be a parent. I kind of have already raised Carter. Finally I decided to sign it and once I did, Rodger made copies and gave me the original and kept the copy for themselves. Baze and I then made our way back outside and saw Carter now fighting with Rook and Slim. She was currently biting Slim and Rook was trying to get her to let go. I gave her backpack to Baze and hurried over to them, to intervene. "Carter let go," I said, trying to help them. Carter didn't stop, she just gave me the finger instead, clearly mad at me. "Carter stop right now. Let Slim go," I said in a stern voice. Carter let go, but only to start hitting me. I did as I did before, but instead brought her arms to her side and held her, swaying us back and forth to try and calm her down. When she seemed calm enough, I looked over at Slim and said "You good?" Slim nodded and said "Yeah, she didn't draw any blood. I just have puncture bites and maybe some deep tissue bruising." I sighed and said "How did this happen anyways?" Rook said "Not long after you left she started to get really angry and didn't like being confined, so she started to attack us, and then she bit Slim and wouldn't let go." I shook my head and looked down at Carter's tear stained angry face and said "Apologize." Carter huffed and turned in my arms and said "Sorry Slim, sorry Rook." "And?", I said. Carter looked at me and said "Fuck off." Baze chuckled and I turned and glared at him. Carter got out of my arms and walked over to the car and got into it, slamming the door. I shook my head and went to get in beside her, but she locked the door. I went to the otherside to get in, but she locked that door as well. I sighed and went to the passenger door and got in. I saw Baze give Rook Carter's bag and then he got into the driver's seat and then Rook went in the middle of the car, with Slim on his right and Carter to his left. Rook gave Carter her bag to which she immediately went inside and took out her earbuds plugging them into her phone and ignored all of us completely and looked out the window. It was going to be a long ride home. We left the driveway and Baze got onto the highway. We sat in silence and I peeked back at Carter every now and then. It was a nine hour drive back home to Cleveland, so we would probably have to take some rest stops and have people change positions, it being five p.m. already. Maybe half an hour in, I looked back to check in on Carter and saw her head resting on Rook's shoulder, out cold asleep. She must have really exhausted herself. It was good that she was getting some sleep. I then made eye contact with Rook and he nodded at me before turning back to his phone, letting Carter cuddle up to him, trying to get comfy. Then I looked at Slim and he showed me the damage Carter had done. I sighed and quietly apologized to him before I turned back to the front and went on my phone as well. Baze put on the radio quietly, not wanting to disturb Carter. After three hours of being in the car, we decided on making a pit stop. We stopped at McDonalds and everyone got out except for Carter since she was still asleep. I went to her side of the car and opened the door and shook her shoulder a bit. She stirred and took out her earbuds asking if we were back already. I chuckled and said "Nope. Just grabbing a quick bite to eat and going to use the bathroom." Carter yawned and stretched, grabbing her backpack and we all walked inside together, before going over to the bathrooms to do our business. I was out quick and had already seen the others done, except for Carter. I told them to go ahead and order while I wait for her. They nodded and I waited outside the bathrooms for my little sister.
