"Akaashi..." Bokuto-san said. He collapsed into my arms.
Was something wrong with him? Usually he would mess up my name, and end up pronouncing it 'Akgaashi' or something like that...
"Bokuto-san, is everything alright?"
"No..."
He looks so sad. I almost smile. He looks so cute... but I don't smile, since I don't want to make him feel bad or anything.
"Bad day, huh, Bokuto-san?" I ask. My voice comes out softly and calmly, almost like a whisper.
"Yeah. Though it's a little better, now that I'm with you." He stands up.
I smile. I'm glad I could help him.
"Agaashi, set for me..." Bokuto-san whines.
"Fine. But it's Akaashi, not Agaashi."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah."
We walked over to the net. Bokuto-san tossed me the ball and started running. I set it. He jumped, swung his arm, and then...
Crack!
You could hear it from a mile away. I ran over to where the ball had landed. There was a crack. In the floor.
"Bokuto-san, you cracked the floor!"
He runs over to see. The sight of Bokuto-san running towards me makes me blush, so I look away.
"Really?! Wow, I'm strong!"
"Bokuto-san, your going to have to pay for a new floor..." I point out, but he's too busy admiring the damage he did.
Our other teammates begin to gather around us.
"Wow! Bokuto did this?"
"That's crazy!"
"Is that even possible?!"
I look at Bokuto-san and then realize that something is definitely wrong. There's a certain brightness missing from his eyes, and although he's strong, I can tell the strength behind that spike was from some sort of emotion. Anger? Or possibly... sadness?
"Bokuto-san, why don't you meet me after practice?"
"Sure. Where?" He asks. The Bokuto-san I know would have been more energetic in his response.
"Just outside the gym here."
"I'll be there!" This time the energy's there, but it's fake, like he's trying hard to stay positive or something.
We have to end practice early because of the floor. I come with Bokuto-san to explain the situation to the managers.
"Hey Yukippe!" Bokuto-san shouts.
"I thought I told you to stop calling me that."
"Yeah, yeah. Well, see, I kind of broke the floor..."
I explain what happened.
She sighs. "Why am I not surprised. Okay, I'll take care of it. Though I might have to call your parents and get them to pay for the repairs."
Bokuto-san just nods. Again, unusual behavior for him.
"Well, see ya, Yukippe."
"Don't call me that!"
We walk out the door, and head back to the gym. Everyone's packing up.
"Hey, Captain. We're all gonna leave now!" Sarukui says.
"Alright. Bye, Saru! Bye, everyone!" Bokuto-san says. I can tell it's fake energy again.
The rest of the team chuckles at Sarukui's nickname, then leaves. After everyone's gone, we lock up the gym and head outside.
"So, why'd you bring me out here, Agaashi?"
"It's Akaashi. And I want you to tell me what's wrong."
He shoves his hands in his pockets and starts to walk away. "Nothing's wrong. I'll be going now."
I grab his arm. "No. Bokuto-san, I won't let you leave until you tell me what's wrong."
He looks back at me in surprise. I notice a light blush on his face. Why is he blushing?
"It's fine, Akaashi. Really. I just had a bad day."
"Why was it bad?"
He looks away. I can tell it's a sensitive subject. I let go of his arm and sigh.
"You don't need to tell me if you don't want to. Have a good day, Bokuto-san."
I turn around and start walking away.
I feel his grab my hand. "Akaashi... wait."
I look back at him in surprise.
"Akaashi, there's something I need to tell you." He looks so serious.
His gaze falls to the ground. Is he... blushing?!
"Akaashi... I...."
"Yes?"
"I like you, okay!"
"I like you too, Bokuto-san."
"But... but I like you as more than friends... and I know you don't feel the same way cause you probably don't like guys..."
Omg, why does Bokuto-san look so cute right now...
"Bokuto-san..."
"I get it, Akaashi! I know you don't like me that way, so please... just... leave me alone for a while..."
I take a step back. He wants me to... leave him alone?
"Bokuto-san, I love you."
He looks up at me in surprise. "Wha...?"
"You heard me the first time." I look away. I'm definitely blushing now.
I look back at him just in time to see his eyes grow wide, and for the usual brightness to fill them again.
"I love you too!" He shouts, and then hugs me.
"Uh... Bokuto-san... personal space please..."
Even while I say that, I hug him back.
He starts walking down the street in that ridiculous way he walks when he's happy, like he's jumping from side to side or something. I can't help but smile.
