The next day at school, Heejin walked in with a pump in her step. She was wearing Younji's leather jacket, black ripped jeans and combat boots. She let her hair down and straight. She had never dressed like this before, but figured some mascara and lip gloss wouldn't hurt.
Everyone in the hallways looked at her. One day, she was sporting pretty pink jeans and a cute ponytail. The next, she was dressed in all black, like a badass.
Heejin smirked as she walked. She knew she looked good. The looks she was getting only proved that. She only hoped Donghyuck would respect her a little more, now that she looked a bit more intimidating.
She walked in the classroom and sat down at her seat. The teacher had assigned her a new one. This one was in front of Donghyuck. She threw her bag off her shoulder and onto the floor, but not before pulling out a lollipop.
Yes, she kept lollipops in her bag. She ate one everyday- which was cute- but now she just looked cool with her new style.
The chains on her jacket and pants jingled as she situated herself in her seat and crossed her legs. She pulled the lollipop out of her mouth and turned around towards Donghyuck. He had been in the room when Heejin arrived.
"Want one?" Heejin asked, gesturing to her lollipop.
Donghyuck only stared at her, emotionless. Heejin shrugged and threw one at him anyways. It was cherry flavored.
"I don't want it." Donghyuck mumbled.
Heejin scoffed. "I didn't give it to you just so you could say you don't want it."
Donghyuck pursed his lips. "You changed. Why?"
"I don't know." Heejin answered. She popped her lollipop back in her mouth and began to turn around. "I wanted to."
The final students came into the room at the sound of the bell. The teacher also came in, no glasses on. Heejin heard the sound of the lollipop wrapper being opened behind her and she smiled to herself.
"You guys get a free day today. I don't feel like teaching." The teacher said, propping her feet up onto her desk. "Your assignments are due tomorrow."
The class went agonizingly slow for some reason. Usually, it goes quick, the happenings of the class making it easier to get through. But today, that was not the case.
Heejin turned around, seeing Donghyuck, who was silently sucking on the lollipop she had given him. She was sketching in her notepad, but her pencil had run out of lead.
"Psst, Donghyuck. Do you have any lead? I ran out." Heejin whispered, waving her pencil in the air. Donghyuck shook his head and crossed his arms.
Heejin was getting annoyed. Why couldn't he just talk to her like a normal person? She actually had extra lead in her bag, but wanted an excuse to try and talk to Donghyuck.
"You sure?" Heejin pressed. "Could you check? For me?"
Donghyuck didn't move. He sat still and just looked at her. She could see Younji snickering at her from the corner of her eye. She kept in mind to complain about that later.
Now Heejin was pissed. He was blatently ignoring her. Maybe it was the new outfit that was making her act this way, but she was suddenly acting in a new way, too.
It was the last straw. Heejin stood up and made her way to Donghyuck's desk, which was only a few steps away. She slammed her hands down on his desk, making everyone in the room jump- except Donghyuck- and look at the two.
"I'm not sure why you're ignoring me like this, but I've been trying to talk to you for days now! What is with you?!" Heejin exclaimed, earning whispers from all the students. Even the teacher was sitting up and interested in what was going on.
The bell suddenly rang, causing Heejin to sigh and throw her head back in annoyance. She was expecting Donghyuck to get up and leave with the rest of the students. Even the teacher left, but Donghyuck stayed put.
This was annoying Heejin even more. Donghyuck was so unpredictable. She couldn't ever tell what his next move would be. It made her so upset. She wanted to stand up straight and walk out the door, but if he was staying, so was she.
"Are you gonna just sit there or are you gonna answer my question?" Heejin demanded, bending down closer to Donghyuck's face.
Without warning, Donghyuck brought his face up and connected their lips. Heejin stood frozen, in shock. For a few seconds, she didn't know what to do. Soon, she was kissing back.
The kiss went on for a good twenty seconds, before Donghyuck pulled away. He stood up, grabbed his bag and left the room. Heejin panted, trying to catch her breath.
Was she out of her mind? Why did she kiss back?
She knew exactly why she kissed back. She was finally getting into his zone. She was floating into his personal bubble.
She was getting through to him.
