Part 16

I had fallen asleep in the chair when the doctor came back into the room a couple of hours later. My Mum and Dad had gone home by now but told me to ring them when I wanted to go home too. The doctor coughed so I would wake up, which I did. "Sorry to wake you." He said. "It's ok don't worry." I replied as I saw Aston's Mum come into the room. We said a quick hello and she got a chair, put it next to mine and sat down. The docter then continued talking. "Aston's scan results have just come back to us." We both looked at him. "And what do they say?" I was worried but still really wanted to know how bad his state was on the inside. I was worried in case he had some internal bleeding or something like that. A lot of people in bad car accidents can have that sort of thing right? "Well when he wakes up he might have some memory loss." "What?" Both me and Aston's Mum looked at each other. I looked at the doctor a bit confused. "Does that mean the memory loss will last a long time or not?" "We're still unsure at the moment. We will just have to wait and see." Great that's just what I needed. Some more things that could go either way.

I sat there quietly thinking about what how bad his memory loss might be. Wait, I think I know what the doctor means. He probably means that Aston won't remember how the accident happened or the journey back from his Mum's house. Yeah I'm sure that's what he means. "Is that all the tests show Doctor?" Aston's Mum asked still as worried as I was. "No other then his obvious injuries like the cut on his head, bruising and a sprained ankle he may need a crutch for." At least that was something. We both let out a sigh of relief knowing that it could have been much worse than it was. Thank goodness it wasn't. I found it hard enough to cope with this let alone anything worse.

Hours later and I was asleep but I was holding Aston's hand. Aston's Mum was asleep in the chair next to me. I woke up as soon as I felt his hand move in mine. Yes! He was waking up, he was waking up!!  I opened my eyes quickly and looked at him. His eyes weren't opened but he was definitely moving. There are no words to decribe how relieved I was to know that he was going to wake up. Even though I knew he was fine and not really badly hurt there was still a part of me worrying that he wasn't going to wake up. I massive sigh of relief flowed out of me like the air being sucked out of a balloon. I gently put my hand on Aston's Mum's shoulder to wake her up. "What is it?" She asked opening her eyes. "It's Aston. He's waking up.

Aston soon woke up and I squeezed his hand gently. "Hi" Both me and his Mum said smiling. He looked a bit confused. "What happened?" He asked weakly. "Your in hospital Ast you've been in a car accident." His Mum replied. "You'll be fine though. Nothing really bad apart from a sprained ankle." He nodded and looked over at us. "Hi Mum." He smiled a little then looked at me holding his hand. "Hi baby." I smiled. "I'm so glad your ok. You definitely had me worried there. Please don't do that to me again please." I giggled a little. He still looked at me not saying a word. What was he thinking? He finally spoke after a while. "Em.... I'm sorry... I don't know who you are..." I just looked at him. Oh gosh. He really had lost his memory and not just over how the accident happened. This really was my worst nightmare.

Why couldn't everything just have stayed the way it was? Nothing good ever lasted with me and this obviously wasn't any different. I talked slowly as I explained to him. "I'm Danie Ast, your girlfriend..." "But your only a kid!  Your not my girlfriend Jasmine is." Oh gosh. I thought things couldn't get any worse. Aston had told me about this Jasmine girl. She was his ex. She dumped him because she was sleeping with his now ex best friend. Why did he think she was still with him? That was a year and a half ago and I know he was completely devestated by what happened but this takes it to a whole new level. "No Ast... You broke up with Jasmine over a year ago because of what she did to you." I was getting really scared. I really thought things were scary enough but this has created a different kind of fear. The fear of me having to leave him because he doesn't want to be with me anymore.
