Chapter 1

Who were they?

"Abel!"

Why did I feel so bored?

"Abel!"

Why can't they hear me?! HEY! I'm calling you!

"Abel!"

Music....I can hear it! Energetic, I can feel the excitement rising, and that? That bright square...

"Abel!"

I know this! Those images! All the blood. I understand now, that is my computer! And that show, Attack on Titan! Oh my god! How could I forget this? Then...

"ABEL PLEASE WAKE UP ALREADY!"

I was about to find out more! But... My sister, Frieda Reiss, sighed relieved. "Are you ok?!"

"What is going on?" I asked confused.

"You fainted... I promise you won't have to see that again"

"How long was I out?"

"Three hours!"

I remember before that I had been watching my sister conduct the ritual of the royal family... blood... injections, cannibalism. Not even a princess would be able to escape this stupid tradition.

Even worse... my head hurt. This situation was shocking and very unfair! My memories of my supposed past life had come to me today.

My name is Abel Reiss. So, not only am I a background character, I'm a character who dies! I don't wanna end up like Junji Ito's "Splatter Film" one-shot! No! I refuse to die like that! I am NOT going to be that girl. "So... did you get it... The founding titan?"

Frieda nodded her head, silky black hair moving along. We were at a disadvantage, maybe it was a selfish move, but I don't want this. I don't want to die when Grisha Jeager is told it is time for him to rage into the capital. My new family would suffer.

I bit my lip. My father, Rod Reiss, had mentioned there was something in the spinal fluid. My past life even showed that some other shifters didn't necessarily consume another titan. Which means... I have a theory that might save some of us! And I can even meet Historia! And even Eren! 

"It's ok...It's not your fault"

"Oh, Abel you are so mature for your age! I still can't believe you are only nine!"

So, I'm nine? Is Historia younger than me? Or my age?

"Frieda, will I have to do the same thing as you?"

"I'll make sure you don't have to, but, I won't lie. If everyone else in our family is gone, and only us two remain, you will have to."

"I don't want to eat you..."

"If it makes you feel better, how about we go on a little adventure? We can go anywhere you want"

I could see it in her clear eyes, the desire to make her little sister happy. But I'm not her little sister, well, not truly. I always wanted siblings, but Frieda acts more like a mom than a sister.

"I wanna do an experiment!" Hook.

"What kind of experiment?"

"Do you remember that injection thingy you had done...?!" Line.

"I am not turning you into a titan!"

"No, no! Let me explain! We can maybe destroy the eating people tradition Free! Pleaaaseee!"

"Fine..." Sinker!

"Tell a scientist to take out your spinal fluid and inject it in me!" She looked reluctant. Troubled. I know she wouldn't even consider it if I was Historia.

"Fine, but you will have to do an errand for me"

I nodded happily. She took me by the hand, both of us being very careful to not be heard. On the inside, I was beaming with excitement. Frieda kept pulling on my hood, afraid we would be discovered. Creeping through alleys, getting on a vehicle, changing places... the way was longer than I expected. We got some snacks on the way... For a princess, she had a lot of contacts who didn't seem to know her name.

"Free... I don't want to be a princess anymore"

She blinked in shock. "What do you mean?"

"I'm the youngest, and I don't like it."

"Silly girl, you can't live that way forever, we all have to grow up."

"I don't want to grow up in the palace... Just, Father is borderline crazy, our other siblings sometimes don't even care about lessons or anything just the power. I want to be free and decide what to do when I grow up."

"And, what do you have planned?"

"I'll be a scout!"

I waited for her to yell, shout... to do something to stop me. Most families wouldn't be happy to know you want a job that can make you die soon.

"Do it."

"Really?"

"If you really want to be free, I think that would be your best choice. But, do you know what that will mean for you?"

"I can't live unless I take risks. Can you.... Can you help me?"

"To escape?"

"Yea... I mean, maybe, maybe you can make everyone forget I existed, or they think I died that day instead of just fainting. Heart attack?"

Frieda sighed and nodded.

I might be able to save Historia, and maybe avoid her from being such a martyr. All she would need is love and care. I wondered if I can make Levi my friend... I don't have high hopes about having contact with the protagonists, but I will try to make their life easier.

We came to a stop, I never noticed when or how, but we got to a cabin. Why to a cabin!? I dunno, this world is already strange, it is not that weird that whatever scientist chose this place. But I admit it did give the vibes of a crazy witch waiting to curse you. Just like fairytales... Frieda even looks a bit like snow-white.

She knocked on the wooden door, and it swung open, revealing a very excited and disheveled Hanji. Did Hanji and Frieda know each other?

"Hello, are you the scientist Hanji Zoe?" I could feel her tension, her hand gripping my smaller one tighter. Damn, she's strong.

"Yup! What do ya need?"

"I want a... lumbar puncture to be done. Transfer the liquid extracted into my sister" Now that I heard it from her, it did sound pretty crazy.

"WHAT!?"

"It's for science! We...we can bring titans to help us, humans! Uh..." Here I was, spilling information I wasn't supposed to reveal.

Frieda pressed her forehead against Hanji's. I watched as she closed her eyes, perhaps revealing the truths of the titans to the scientist. Hanji was just impressed but excitedly agreed. This was going to change things a bit. Could this world handle this change? I knew I couldn't keep on doubting this, even if it was impulsive, I wanted to survive.

I was ready. I was ready for this.

I closed my eyes, waiting on the examination table. I felt lightheaded, everything was white. Glimpses of the past of this world came to mind. My throat felt sore and raw. How long had passed? Did the original Ymir see me? I truly hope my plan doesn't fail.
