Seconds are all I have till a car hits a man. My pulse begins to quicken when I see the man not moving. There is no time to warn him, so my instincts kick in. I leap forward and extend my arms to push him. My hands hit his back and I push him with all my might. A car horn blares in my ear. The next thing I hear is tires screeching and a distant ambulance siren. I try to look for the man I pushed, but everything is blurry and I see flashes of light. Before I could do anything, everything suddenly goes black.
Beeeeep.....Beeeeep...... I hear a heart monitor? People are whispering as I awaken and I pretend to still be sleeping. I wonder where I am when I hear a voice say, “She is lucky to be alive in a crash like that. You can't come in, I'm sorry sir only family can enter this hospital room."
The man mumbles something inaudible and I wonder who he is. my curiosity gets the best of me, so I peak open my eyes and I catch a glimpse of his back, and low and behold it is the man who I pushed out of the way. I could tell that back anywhere, he has long, curly, brown hair. Its attractive, but too long all at the same time. I want to say something to get his attention, but my throat is on fire. The nurse, who sent the mystery man away, comes next to my bed side. She is holding a giant bouquet of flowers and sets them on a table by me. Did he get me those? Mysterious and sweet, I think to myself as a smile forms on my face. She sighs and drops her head down and her eyes lock with mine. She seems shocked, but I'm thirsty beyond hell and croak the word “water" and hope she understands. She appears to know since she leaves the room. I guess dealing with worse people then me you can pick up on a few things.
When she returns she brings water and a doctor. I greedily grab the water and chug the whole thing down, ignoring the fact that there is another man standing at the foot of my bed. What the.... why are more doctors coming in? The doctor whose name tag reads weer waits for me to finish my water before asking some questions. “Hello miss, you are being treated by our best medical team, you have been in a coma for a week. Can I ask you a few questions?" I nod my head for him to continue, like what am I gonna say, no. My mind starts to wonder to the stranger who was at my door. His thin body- the doctor interrupts my thoughts to begin, “To start off, what is your name?" Well that's an easy one, “Katherine Visco." Why is there a bunch of doctors roaming my room, and why do so many people care about my accident? It's not like I died or anything. The doctor must see my short attention span and tries to explain my situation, “Well Katherine, I'm Doctor Weer and you have been in an accident." No dip Sherlock. “You were hit by a drunk driver who ran a red light." Hmmm where is this drunk driver? “In the process you saved a man. Do you know who that man was?" I shake my head no. I did only see his back after all. He continues, “his name is Harry Styles."
