Bumps in the Road

Chapter 3

*1 month later

Addison's POV: Bryce and I are standing in my bedroom, pacing the floor. Tonight is the night we tell my parents that I am pregnant. I'm not showing in the slightest so there's no way my dad knows. My mom on the other hand has been holding my hair back for me when I have had morning sickness. She may have a hunch, but who knows. We don't want to make my dad mad and hate Bryce because this happened because of both of us, not just Bryce. My mom calls Bryce and I downstairs for dinner. We take one last deep breath and head downstairs.

When we sit down we find each other's hands under the table and clasp them together, tightly. "Mom, Dad, we have something to tell you," I say. " This was our decision and we have to deal with the consequences. But we don't think of this as a consequence more of a blessing in disguise." I glance over at Bryce and he smiles. "Mom and Dad, I'm pregnant." I feel my eyes mist as I finish my sentence. Bryce explains how we're going to start saving up money to get a place of our own and provide for the baby. After Bryce finishes, my dad excuses himself from the table, throwing his napkin down in the process.

My mom looks at us and says, "If this is what you want, then I will be here to help. I just have to make sure of one thing." She turns slightly and looks at Bryce, "You have to promise me that you won't leave. You are the father of this baby so it is your responsibility to help provide and take care of the baby. Work on becoming a better role model so this means, no slang and no messing around after the baby comes. Do you hear me." Bryce nods his head and says, "Yes ma'am. I will work my hardest to be the best father I can be." She looks at us again and tells us to give my dad some time to cool off. He'll come around. I breathe a sigh of relief and so does Bryce. My father comes downstairs and basically gives us the same speech that my mom gave us. Eventually, he says, "I love you both and I agree this is a blessing in disguise. You can ask for help anytime." I start crying and go up and hug my mom and my dad.

We finish dinner and Bryce and I head over to the Hype House for another party. We are probably going to tell everyone at that time. When we get to the party we head up to the roof where everyone is congregating. We grab everyone's attention and tell them that we have an announcement. "I'm pregnant!" The roof erupts with cheers and congratulations. We know there are some people who don't approve but there are tons of people who are being really supportive. Dixie comes over and gives me a hug and asks me how far along I am. "A month and a half I tell her." I hear the sway boys giving Bryce a hard time getting me pregnant but Bryce keeps telling them," We believe it's a blessing in disguise." I love him. After the party's over, I head over with Bryce to the sway house where I make out with him until we're tired. All I can think when I fall asleep is:
