I walked by the side of a stone paved road
Going through the motions of life
A typical day on my usual stroll
I saw to my right a lone flowerOn the empty field a flower shone
Brighter than the sun above me
Its beauty radiating everything around
My heart felt warmer, taken by its beautyDays of cold now have a familiar warmth
It made my heart throb, left me in awe
Yet it was strangely comforting
I had a feeling to look forward toIt became a guiding light to life
Illuminating every dark path
It nurtured me to be my best
Built the person I am nowAt the cost of its own radiance
Without notice the flower withered
It gave up all its radiance
For the person who found it
Yet I let it fade on its ownI now stand, looking at the faded flower
Gone, its radiance and warmth
The fool tried to nurture it back
It was futile, it was long goneNow frozen in place, all alone
Reminiscing of days gone by
All I can do is try and feel
Feel its warmth that lifted meIts no use, I feel no warmth
I feel cold, I try to scream
Scream for the flower, yet nothing
I open my dry lips, "I, Sonnenblume"
