Kageyama pov
There he was in his sheer glory, looking up at the sun and smiling like a fool. And there I stood six feet away completely consumed by the sight, eyes pinned on him like a hawk and hands stopped mid-trajectory. It enthralled me, enchanted me, and captivated me. I couldn't quite pin-point a specific moment that made my eyes jolt towards the boy, but since it stopped at its destination it willed never to move again. Hair resembling the dyed skyline at dusk and eyes folded neatly into a smile, the small form lurched forward and giggled triumphantly as he seemed to chatter on with big hand movements flailing out to his sides. His presence was vast and alerting. Nobody could miss it quite so easily. An eye turner, a spectacle in itself just like the sun.
I slowly reminisce back to the time when we first met on court. Me as the King of the court and you in your green uniform. The short no.1 wing spiker. As I entered the court you were standing there ambition dripping full from your eyes as we glared at each other intensely. At that time I didn't know what you would look like on court. To be honest, I didn't even expect a good game from you. However, the way you flew on the court that day, still sends pleasant shivers to my back. Orange hair set on fire by the jarring gym lights. Amber eyes holding too many promises, possibilities, potentials. I was struck by you. Even when you declared to me that you would beat me one day. Tears welling in your eyes, voice strained, and fat tears rolling down your cheeks. You didn't look vulnerable but instead strong and determined. A soldier leaving the battlefield determined to come back 10 times stronger. My heart beat furiously fueled by your passion and for once and for all you gave me a better reason to be a setter. So I could set for you one day.
"Oi, Kageyama!" A calling from reality. Outside the safe space of my mind. Time that seemed to have divided into Nano-seconds around him, rushes quickly like a river's current by my side and reverses back to its normal speed. The scent of fresh spring tickles my nose and once again before I know it, he is lost from my sight. Did it frustrate me? That maybe if I tried harder I could have talked him out on giving his number, or maybe we could have been friends? Since it seemed like he really loved volleyball. Besides how was I so sure that I would see him again at this precise time, every Wednesday, just a few yards away from my house, and just a meter away from my favourite shop munching on his meat bun. How was I sure? The crossing points between our paths were feeble, a matter of a single minute. Still, ironically he took up most of my time throughout the day with his blazing coloured hair and warm amber eyes slowly taking over my life. However, for the time being, I'd thought I would just watch. Like an audience member waiting for the play to start.
(y/n) pov
"Oh my god, you cannot tell me that they are not boyfriends! They are l i t e r a l husbands. I kid you not."
Scrolling through my phone looking at those hOOOly pictures I buried my face into my hands dramatically. Sobbing like a lunatic I squealed and screamed too many times, flopped on my best friend's bed, legs dangling off the side.
"Jesus, (y/n) shut the fuck up, I'm trying to work right now!"
I quickly glanced to my side glaring at my friend trying to finish her essay ten minutes before the deadline. She could have done it earlier, instead of watching haikyuu with me.
"I mean...(f/n), It's kind of your fault though. Like, you were the one simping over Kuroo yesterday, bro lets not get sassy with me." I flicked my ponytail to the side as I continued to scroll through fanarts under Kagehina as silence draped thickly over us like a blanket. 10 minutes later (f/n) slapped the enter button loudly and flopped next to me stretching her arms out.
"I think I have a talent for writing essays under 20 minutes."
"Talent? You mean like practice makes perfect."
