(November) Bella's pov
Since marching band officially ended Saturday, tomorrow (Monday) starts concert band.
Which also means I cannot play my sousaphone.
If you haven't caught on today is Sunday.
Me and Aj are the only two people in the whole entire high school.
Mr. Williams gave Aj the key and so we're in the band room.
Why?
He's gonna help me adjust to an actual tuba since its a bit different than sousaphone.
I sit down and set the cold metal on my lap and screw my mouth piece in
"Try to play a b flat" Aj says sitting across from me with his tuba
I try and I get the note perfectly except extremely loud
"God damn Bella this isn't a sousaphone you don't need to use so much air." Aj says
Less air? Does one say that?
I then play a b flat sale and it is successful
"Bella I'm fucking jealous." Aj comments
"Why?"
"Your awesome at tuba."

The next morning I drag the tuba Mr.Williams is giving me through the hall ways.
"Yo freshmeat where's the toilet you normally carry?" An upperclass man yells at me referring to my sousaphone
I ignore them
"What's in that case?" The girl yells
"Fuck off." I yell back trying to get to the band room. next thing I know the girl grabs the neck of my shirt and shoves me up against the lockers
"What did you just say?" As she yells her spit covers me
"Nothing" I mumble
She lets go of my shirt sending me straight to the floor.
I get up and grab my tuba case and hurry to the band room. people laugh at me the whole way there.
I shove the stupid case into my band locker and head to my first class.
"Wow it's Pico's little toy." someone yells pointing at me
Pico is Seth's last name.
"How good is he in bed?" A different girl yells.
Instead of crying like the baby I am I hurry into science and sit next to will.
He slides a white pill onto my desk
"It helps with pain." he explains
I push the pill off my desk and step on it
"Drugs are for idiots." I tell him.

I survived all my classes and successfully made it to seventh period concert band.
Sadly Mr. Williams is directing and not seth, so I can't stare at seth all day. judge me. There's also a guy Ive never seen before sitting in a chair next to the podium.
"First we will tune the brass. Bella can you play a concert b flat for us." mr. Williams says

Once school ended I walked home then went to dang work and then came home and slept.
So skipping to band class Tuesday

We were sight reading a new piece Mr. Williams passed out to us when that random guy from yesterday whispered something into Mr. Williams ear.
Mr. Williams cuts us off then walks over into the low brass section straight to me, he sets a saxophone music piece on my stand then returns to the front.
"Bella can you play the solo part in that for me?" He asks
I nod and lift my tuba into playing position
It was really high and confusing but I did it.
"Seth come up front and re start sight reading Bella come with me and Mr. Higgs into my office."
I look at Aj terrified but set my tuba down and follow them into his office.
"Paul Higgs." the random guy sticks his hand out
"Bella Vaughn." I shake his hand.
"Bella I am a director in New York. I help run a competitive band there, well not yet anyways its a new thing we are doing this year. It is going to be like American idol except not singing only wind instruments and pit can try. I want you to audition. It'll be broadcasted on fox."
My hand literally cups my mouth in excitement/ shock.
"It's a completely free ride to New York. The down side is you'd leave Friday. And its a long competition it would probably last until April or may so we will be offering classes there and a place to stay. plus one free round ticket to visit home per month." he says
"I definitely want to do this." I state
"Fantastic! Have your guardian call me tonight." he hands me his business card and I return to my seat.
I start freaking out at Aj even though he's currently sight reading with the rest of the band.
"I'm moving to New York until May!!"
He nearly drops his horn and looks at me
"What!!?"
I fill him in on everything
"Why would you go? Your going to leave your parents and brother? And two best friends? And whatever seth is?" He asks
"This is big time though. I need to go." I reply
"And your not going to miss us?"
"Of course I'll miss you guys but this is amazing and I need to do this. We can text and facetime everyday."
"Okay." Aj agrees
"I was listening the whole time and how are you gonna leave seth?" Ian asks
As soon as band ends I walk over to seth and just blurt out everything Mr. Higgs told me
"This is incredible Bella. I'm so proud of you." seth says
"You reacted a lot better than Aj did." I state
"Yeah well I'm your boy man dude thing I have to be supportive." Seth replies.

My mom called the guy and got it all settled.
I actually leave this Saturday.
I have to be at the airport at 9pm. And I have to take everything I'll need until thanksgiving cause that's the first time I'll be home.
Oh my god this unreal.
I get to leave dumb old Minnesota and more importantly leaping lemurs high.
And I'll be playing tuba, I obviously won't win the competition but leaving for awhile seems great.
