Gorgon

Beginning

   

It is time for the race to begin. It is time for the adrenaline to rush through your body, hitting every nerve. It is time for Gorgon. Gorgon will get you when you least expect it. First, you hear shrieks of fear bleed through your ears. That’s when you know that the game has begun.

    You can stand at the end of the stairs and wait. You wait until it’s time to start.

“Ready!” the man would shout. No one is ready.

“Set!” he would go again.

“Go!” The man would yell. Ready or not, here Gorgon comes. The energy rushes through you and you bolt down the stairs into the danger zone. There are signs of fear and excitement across faces. You can barely make out the silhouettes of the objects around you. The black nothingness fills the basement. Creepy tunes and melodies slip around the corners. You are blind to the things in front of you, but you still run and hide. You can’t let Gorgon find you or his red glow will haunt you.

    The red gleam of the “Exit” sign bounces off of the metal water fountain. You try to find the pieces of the flashlight so you can expose him. The rules that you follow are different than mine. You hide, in hope that Gorgon won’t find you. I run, run until the game is done. Even if I am face to face with Gorgon, I find a way out. This is a way of survival. You can run, but you can’t hide. Gorgon will always find you, he is everywhere.

    You run like you’ve never run before. Your calves begin to burn and you feel like your legs are going to collapse beneath you. Taking my advice, you run and not hide. There is you and five people left. Will you be able to escape from Gorgon? Running up the stairs, you fall. Don’t let him get you. Gorgon races after you and you get back on your feet. Face red and burning up, your running slows down. No, I must keep going! you think. But you are falling behind. This is the longest time that you have been in, hiding from Gorgon. Becoming faint, you run into a room that has one door. That is when your mistake was made. Gorgon strides through the door. His horrifying, warped face seems to paralyze you. His grimey, buttery hair sticks out in different directions, and you can’t bear his zombie-like scent. There’s no way you can escape now and you're out. Gorgon is everywhere.
