Chapter Seven

Rachelle:

Carina and I were lying on our towels under the blazing summer sun on the private beach that my family owns. I could hear the waves crashing against the shore and the sound of birds and the scent of seaweed and salt. Hmm... this feels good...

"So, tell me how you feel, about Nate living here."Carina murmured, shading her eyes with her hand. The sun brought out the gold flecks in her eyes. Aw... good genes... Guess that not everyone's model material.

I grimaced. I wanted to avoid this topic.

"It's fine. I can't just hack his head off or anything."I squirmed and pulled my bikini away from my prickling skin.

"What?"Carina blurred tremulously. Then, deliberately, she tilted her head."You would hack his head off, wouldn't you?"

I smiled, slightly amused."Okay...Fine! Maybe if we met again in a dark alley or something..."

She laughed, her laugh slightly watery. Like she was going to tear up from laughing. It wasn't that funny!

"But come on, what the guy did was completely stupid and unthoughtful."IShe added, her laughter slowly dying off.

She nodded, agreeing.

"-but, I think you should forgive him..."She said finally.

And here's where she's waiting for me!

I shook my head and smiled."Nope."

"Why not? Just look at the guy! He's trying to get you to forgive him for like, days now."She retorted, gripping my arm.

"He came here on Friday. Today's sunday."I corrected, breathing out some CO2. "Plus, the guy's a total player."I stated the obvious.

She remained silent. What I said is true...She can't deny it.

"Hey! I thought you don't read "people!"She argued, pouting.

"I don't read Poeple, but i still read Vanity Fair."I answered, feeling proud of my answer.

She looked confused.

"Look,"I said, sitting up."The guy disappeared for 10 years, and left me to my lonesome. Without telling me, without any explaination. Then 10 years later, he waltzes back into my life and expects me to forgive him?"I raised an eyebrow.

"Gee, when you put it like that..."Carina sighed and checked her reflection in her compact mirror.

"Someone needs to teach him a lesson."I said quietly and readjusted my bikini strap.

Carina nodded, finally agreeing with me.

We laid there in silence for a few minutes and I was finally relaxing again...

Until someone blocked my sun. URGGGGGGGGG

"What the hell?"I blurred, annoyed and pissed off. I sat up, shading my eyes.

"Hey."That familiar, silky but yet husky voice called out.

"GO AWAY."I said, grabbing an extra towel and slapped shut my magazine.

"Hello to you too,"He laughed and popped himself beside me.

I turned to look at him. He was wearing a green striped polo shirt and shorts that complimented his toned buttcheeks. Wait... No... he doesn't deserve a compliment.

"So, you girls getting a tan?"He flashed his 1000 watt smile at me. I frowned and turned away.

"Yes, now go away." I said again, shooing him with my hands.
