I looked through my old pictures… Calling back those days…And memories, I remembered those days like it's happening today all over again. With every single detail…

I held one of my pictures of old days. Recalling memories. It was of me, Kai and rick.

I smiled remembering how Kai was. He would always run to be the one next to me making sure he's in every picture I'm in. I remember him fighting with rick to be the one next to me. But I always would push him away to be with rick.

Kai Elliot was the son of one of my dad's acquaintances and also our neighbor. Our parents would always joke about us being married one day. While Kai would be blushing and grinning I just laughed it off thinking it was just a joke.

Kai was not my type. He wasn’t ugly but he's not stunning either. Plus he's such a dork. Always following me and getting jealous over every small thing. And above all he's not that smart. Always failing or barely passing. Why would I of all people have to be his bride?!!

Plus, since I was a kid I always liked rick. He was good looking, smart and cool. I feel like we match.

Years went by and that gloomy day came. When I had to be his bride!!!In a week from now I'll be officially his legal wife. I'll be forever kept as his prisoner…

I saw myself in my white dress looking pretty as ever and waiting for my groom. The smile was on my face like any other girl would do on her very special day. Only for it to be replaced with the biggest frown when I saw him coming closer!!!Why of all people I had to get such a guy!!What did I do to deserve this living disaster?

I felt my self being shook lightly and then realized I was only dreaming. I opened my eyes thankful that it was a dream and jumped out of bed hugging mom tightly

"What's wrong dear? Did you have a bad dream?"

"Mom. Can't you take pity on me? You know I can't bare him. You can't do this to me"

"Esme. Don’t say such unlucky words before your engagement day…"

"What? What do you mean before?"

"Really Esme!!You know tomorrow you're getting engaged to Kai. So stop this"

Listening to mom reminding me of tomorrow just crashed any slight hope I had of this being a dream. I thought maybe. Just a small maybe this this whole thing was a nightmare I would wake up from soon and live my life. But stuff just doesn't go our way does it?!

 I sat in my room fed up with all this crap. I wasn’t going to tolerate this and if dad wouldn’t do anything then I will.

I grabbed my phone and dialed his number "hello"

"Hello kai"

"Who's with me?"

"It's me, Esme"

"Oh hey Esme. Wow couldn’t wait till tomorrow my dear…"

As he was talking I cut him and said" look Kai. Who don’t you just get it? I like you like a brother and no more. Just give up"

"Look Esme. I know you don’t love me but I promise you I have a lot of surprises hidden for you. You'll be happy with me"

"No I won't. We're not alike"

"Just tell me what is it about me that you dislike so much?"

"Everything Kai. We're not well matched. I honestly can't see myself with someone like you. NEVER. I'm way out of your league"
