"André's ice cream has always melted hearts! But the magic will only work if you eat it!"
~ André Glacier
André had been told by police that he couldn't set his cart up any closer than he currently was to the superheroes who would be positioned underneath the Arc de Triomphe. He was now worrying about how he would ever get the attention of Rena Rouge or the others from over one hundred feet away. He tried to focus on his current customers, hoping that since the magic had gotten him this far, it would help him get the rest of the way. André handed an ice cream cone to a little girl who had a sweet puppy in her arms. The caramel, chocolate, and vanilla scoops clearly matched the wriggling animal whose tongue gave a huge lick to the ice cream as it passed by his head. André smiled when the girl didn't get at all upset about sharing with her puppy. It looked like love to him!
"May I please have your attention!" called Mayor Bourgeois and André directed his gaze to the makeshift podium. "Thank you to all of the Parisians who have shown up here today to make their appreciations known to my daughter Chloe, er, Queen Bee . . ." Queen Bee gently pushed her way in front of her father and up to the microphone.
"After all I have done to help protect this city I humbly accept—" She was interrupted by some snickers and disbelieving laughs from a few in the audience. Queen Bee glared at the audience and continued. "I humbly accept this medal from the Mayor of Paris." She reached out and took the bronze-colored medal from her father, posed for a photo, and then handed the medal to her friend Sabrina who hovered nearby. "I will be available for autographs later," she said as she stood near the podium. The other four superheroes stood awkwardly to the side and back of Queen Bee.
The Mayor darted a quick look at his daughter to see whether she was finished and then called each superhero up, thanked them, and then handed them their medals. He continued with a speech reminding everyone of all that his daughter and the other superheroes had done for him and the citizens of Paris.
André mostly tuned out what the mayor was saying as he had a long line of customers. Luckily, many of them were just interested in requesting their own flavors rather than needing his magic, so he didn't have to give the customers all of his attention. He kept one eye on the superheroes while he handed out many scoops of the "Ladybug" and "Cat Noir" ice cream- thankfully he'd had the foresight to add extra containers of that to his cart today- and also a number of orange chocolate scoops to stand for the fox-like superhero Rena Rouge, his new lime sorbet for the turtle-like Carapace, and some honey fudge swirl for Queen Bee. As André looked out into the crowd he could see a lot of support for people's favorite superheroes by their ice cream choices, or perhaps they just preferred the taste of the certain flavors? Who knew?
Mayor Bourgeois seemed to finally be winding down his speech and directing everyone to a certain area where people could meet the superheroes. Lines started to form and André wondered whether anyone would notice if he moved his cart nearer to the superheroes. He gave a quick glance toward the police. Everyone's attention seemed focused on the superheroes, so André climbed on his bike and started pedaling the cart slowly around the back of the masses of people aiming his way toward Carapace, whose head he could just see above the crowd. He was able to park his cart just a few feet behind Carapace and Rena Rouge. Now he would just have to wait.
Time passed slowly for André. He stood behind his cart and kept one eye on Rena, Carapace, and Queen Bee trying to make sure that they didn't leave before he could talk to them while still attending to his customers. It was very tiring! Eventually no one was near Queen Bee and he quickly took his opportunity.
"Queen Bee!" André called as he stepped around his cart and approached her.
"Yes?" Queen Bee answered craning her neck to see who called.
