"Huuuuuh?"

"You heard me, they have a crush on you. And to top it off, they've started battling daily!" The black-haired boy shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose. "It's insane! And I mean physical fights. Not just pokemon battles." He opened his blue eyes and stared at the girl in front of him. "You have to do something May!"

"Whoa whoa whoa. How the heck do you even know about this?" Her unnatural hairstyle bounced with her movements. He sighed.

"Because I'm their best guy friend other than each other. But they don't really care to talk about it with each other since they just see each other as a foe." He sighed even more dramatically. "It's like two Ryhorns charging at each other!"

"Okay... What do you want me to do?" She asked him and shifted her weight onto one leg, hand on hip. He threw his hands up, mouth moving but no words coming out.

"I don't know! Something. Anything! Just make them stop," the boy continued to whine, his voice starting to remind the girl of a Zubat.

"Miss Birch! Your father is here!" A woman's voice called to the two children. May turned to her friend and they both frowned before rushing downstairs.

"Dad? What's up?" May stared at the older man in the doorway. He scratched his head and smiled nervously.

"Well, your mother cooked dinner and wanted you to come eat with us both," he told her and sighed.

'Mum cooked dinner? Isn't that rare...' She glared at the professor, annoyed. "Sure whatever, let me just go get my things." She ran upstairs, collected her bag and pokeballs, then came back down. "Ok I'm ready," she smiled. Gripping a pokeball on her belt, she threw it and yelled: "Wildfire, come out!"

"Blaze!" The pokemon stood tall and smiled at his trainer.

"Ok May, I want you to take good care of this pokemon." Professor Birch smiled at his daughter. "Have fun on your journey and stay safe," he whispered as he hugged her.

"Ok Dad! I'll take good care of him." She beamed and hugged him back. "I love you, dad."

Soon after she departed, she ran into a boy her age. "Hey! Watch out or I'll let Wildfire on you!" Upon hearing his name, the pokemon came out of his pokeball.

"Torchic-tor!" It chirped, hyped for a battle. The boy looked at her and the pokemon.

"Oh I'm so sorry! I should be more careful. I'm looking for the..." He checked the letter in his hand. "Pokemon Lab?" He smiled and helped her up. "My name's Eon, a-and I just moved into Oldale town." The ears on his red hoodie swayed when he tilted his head.

"Well, when you get your pokemon, I'll be waiting on Route 103 for a battle!" She smirked and placed a hand on her hip. His eyes gleamed with determination and he nodded.

'Hah, I remember the day I got Wildfire. I also met this dork that day, haha.' May giggled as she bade them farewell. She was soon on the way to Littleroot town, conversing with her father and the Blaziken. 'Though, I wonder what I should do about those two...'

They eventually reached their house and found a dinner table full of food - there were even some bowls of pokemon food. Wildfire and May stared at the food, the temptation almost too hard to resist. May release the rest of her team and her father did the same. May's mother didn't have any pokemon and so, just sat down waiting. Joining the woman, both the Professor and his daughter sat down to eat. This gave May some time to think. 'I shouldn't let them know I've caught on, otherwise they'll just pester me. Ugh, this is so dumb. I wonder if the internet can help me... Isn't Brendan champion? I bet the internet has a lot of "opinions" on him. Wait, do people ship him with other people? Who could they possibly ship him with? I have to check this out.' May smirked to herself and finished her meal quickly, running upstairs to her PC and loading it up. Her fingers glided over the keys as she typed in the search bar. 'Ok, so I was right about the "opinions" thing and the potential shipping too. Huh?' She felt something tap her shoulder.

"Blaze-blaziken," he spoke as he pointed to the pink clock on the wall. May looked up from the bright screen. Staring at the ticking object, she read the time and groaned. "Iken?" The red pokemon tilted his head at his trainer's reaction.

She noticed and told him, "don't worry buddy. I'm just surprised it's so late." Standing up, she walked over to a drawer and pulled out a nightgown. "Could you go tell the others to get ready for bed?" He nodded and headed out. "Thanks!" She got changed quickly and took off the red cloth on her head - her light brown hair still defying gravity. She slipped downstairs to say goodnight and put her pokemon back in their pokeballs. She went back into her room and fell asleep in her bed, thinking about how to deal with the entire situation.
