Lydia Martin was known for throwing the best parties in Beacon Hills, but tonight she wasn't really in the party mood, even though it was New Years eve. As Lydia waited for her guests to arrive she sat in her bedroom, and like she did everyday, she spoke to Allison.
Allison was the only real friend she ever had and even though she was gone, Lydia still liked to talk to her as if she were really there.
"Hey Allison." Lydia started to say in a soft whisper. "I can't believe the year is over already, it feels like.... it feels like, just yesterday you and I, went shopping for our new school wardrobes." Lydia started to choke up, she didn't know if she could keep going, but she did. "I just.... I miss you. Every single day, but I think you already know that. This year has been, so hard, and there are times when I just feel, completely helpless. I know what you'd say if you were here, you'd take my hand and you'd tell me I can do it, I can keep going.... but I just don't think I have the strength to go on anymore. Lydia broke into tears, "Especially without you." She said in between sobs.
Lydia stopped to think about everything that she had been through in the past year and how much she had lost. Although all her friends had been through a great ordeal in the past year, Lydia always seemed to be the one who was hurt the most. As she wiped away her tears she thought of the many times she was brought close to death and not just because she was a banshee. "I don't know if I can make it through another year like this, wondering what's gonna happen next, constantly having to fight to stay alive. I don't want to be a banshee anymore, I can't do it, it's too hard." Lydia got up and started to walk around her bedroom, she looked at the pictures on her wall, the ones of her friends, Scott, Stiles, Kira and Malia, then she looked at the picture of Allison.
"I know I look like I'm okay, but I'm not, I wish they would see that."
Then suddenly there was a knock on Lydia's door, it was Stiles.
"Hey Lydia, um your mom, she uh told me to come get you."
Lydia was still staring at her wall, facing away from Stiles.
"Hey Lydia, are you okay?" Stiles said as he walked in closing the door behind him.
Lydia stood there frozen and didn't answer him. Stiles walked up to her with a worried look on his face, then he saw what Lydia was looking at.
"Oh, Lydia I'm sorry I'll go if you want me to." Stiles said as he turned to leave, but before he could walk away, Lydia grabbed his arm, Stiles turned around at once. She turned around and faced Stiles, Lydia still said nothing but as soon as Stiles saw her tear stained face he pulled her toward him and embraced her tightly, Lydia wrapped her arms around him and just let it all out. She started sobbing into Stiles's shirt.
"I, I miss her Stiles."
For a second Stiles was speechless, he didn't know what to say, he hated seeing Lydia so upset, he wanted to make her feel better, but he himself missed Allison too, so he said the only words that came to his mind.
"Me too Lydia, me too."
Lydia stepped back, her face stained in tears, Stiles placed his thumb on Lydia's cheek and wiped always the last few tears on her face, he held her by the shoulders and looked deeply into her eyes.
"Lydia look at me, you are gonna make it through this, I promise, this year won't be so bad."
"How can you be so sure Stiles?"
"Because you've got me, you've got us, and we're all here for you no matter what."
The smallest hint of a smile came across Lydia's face as she looked at Stiles. Then he took her hand and they walked downstairs, together.
