Brave

Chapter One

 "Kai, hurry up!"

"Almost done Nya, just gotta do my hair!"

Nya rolled her eyes and walked away from the bathroom, checking the time. "KAI! We're going to be late!"
Kai hurried out of the bathroom, his hair all spiked up. "See, it's worth it! Have you seen me without spikes? No, and there's a reason for that."

Nya grabbed his wrist and pulled him into the kitchen. "Kai, if we don't hurry up then we'll be late to our first day."

Kai grabbed his bag and went out the door, calling back to his sister. "I'm out of the house before you, tell that to yourself."
Nya grabbed hers before running after her brother. She checked that the car was packed before saying, "Let's hit the road!" Kai started the car and off they went.

"Cole, are you ready?"

Cole grabbed his bag and put it on. "Yup, ready, ready to go." He opened his door and came face-to-face with his father, Lou.

"Have a good day son." Lou gave him a hug. "Now go on, I can't hold you up. Oh, I'm going to miss you." His father wiped a tear.

Cole smiled. "Dad, I'll call and visit all the time. Now I should go, it's the first day."

"Yes, yes you're right. I put your luggage in your car as you got ready. Have fun, son. Oh, and say hello to Jay for me!"
"I will. I love you!" Cole hugged his father one last time before getting in the car and leaving. Jay was his childhood friend who was going to the same college as him. Cole knew a boy named Zane was also going,  Zane was from their highschool.

"Jay! Come down for breakfast dear!"
Jay hurried downstairs and sat down as his mother set a plate down in front of him. "Morning Mom!"

"Honey, did you stay up late again?"

Jay chuckled. "Eh, I might have stayed up late reading the newest edition of Starfarer. I can't help it!"

Jay's father spoke up. "Son, I just finished packing your car. I can't believe our son is finally going to college!"

"Oh, it seems just yesterday we were teaching him how to dress himself!" His mother, Edna piped in.

"Mom!" Jay groaned. He finished his breakfast and hugged his parents, then got into his car. As he pulled away his mother called,

"Did you remember to pack clean underwear?"

"Yes! Mom!"

"Echo, I won't be gone forever." Zane said to his little brother, who was upset about Zane leaving.

"You're going to college, I won't be able to see you!" Echo pouted. "Why can't I go with you?"

"You're not old enough."
"Since when do ages matter, we're both androids."

"To the school they do, even though I do see what you are saying."

Zane and his brother went downstairs to find their father, Dr. Julien, holding his bag. "I can't believe you're off to college. This is an exciting moment for you."

Zane's falcon flew over and landed on his arm. "I'll miss you all. Though I will call when I am able to and visit."

Dr. Julien nodded. "Yes, yes. Of course."

Zane put his bag on and hugged his brother one last time, then his father. Scratching the falcon under his beak, he turned and left.
