Hikari

I don't remember passing out, but when I came to, I was laying in a hospital bed.

I groaned softly and weakly raised my head. There were windows in my room, and it was bright outside, which meant it was probably around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. I looked around the room, my eyesight hazy and dark around the edges. Movement from across the room caught my eye and a voice said, "Hikari?"

I blinked a few times and muttered, "Momo?"

Momo was sitting up in the other bed, staring at me. Her hair was down and she had bandages around her head. But she still smiled when she saw me. "Are you feeling alright?"

I slowly sat up and winced. "Yes, I'm okay. What about you? What happened?"

She clutched the bed sheets. "A Nomu was with the villains and hit me in the head. The only reason I'm alive is because of Awase, a boy in class B. Apparently I had passed out and he grabbed me and ran away from the Nomu until finally it stopped chasing us and left."

I nodded and looked out the window for a moment before looking back. "I'm glad you're okay. What about everyone else?"

She frowned. "All Might and some police came in here a few hours ago, while you were still unconscious. They informed me that Kyoka and Toru are still unconscious from the poison gas in the woods, and that Midoriya keeps going in and out of consciousness and won't respond to anything."

"I hope they'll be okay," I said.

Momo nodded. "Me too."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and a doctor stepped in.

"Ah, I see you're awake, Kazenikura," he said, coming over to me. "How are you feeling?"

I shrugged. "I feel okay. My body still kind of hurts, but I'm used to pain."

He sighed. "Do you have any clue what you did?"

I frowned. "What?"

"From what I've heard, if you use the full extent of your power, you can harm yourself, correct?" he asked.

I slowly nodded. "Yes, sir."

"I've never seen anything like this," he said. "There's something in our bodies that keeps us from using more than 80% of our power. Usually, during a time of panic or fear, our bodies can go past these limits for a limited time, and use 100% of our power."

He handed me a chart. "For some reason, even though you weren't fighting and the villains were gone, your quirk went off at 100% percent, destroying your body. Your arms and legs were badly injured, but the most injury was to your ribs."

I stared at the chart, uncomprehending.

"We had heard that some other doctors had to perform surgery on your lung, which is the reason one of your ribs is missing," he said. "But, because they had just recently done the surgery, your lung was weak and there was nothing protecting the spot around it. When your quirk fired of at 100%, it damaged your lung even more."

Then I saw what he was talking about: on the chart, an area of my lung was black. Had I burned it?

"You burned your lung," he confirmed, taking back the chart. "I wouldn't be surprised if you have trouble breathing or suddenly couldn't breathe at all."

Then he tapped his fingers against his leg. "I suggest you take it easy and focus on healing. Try to take deep breaths, even if it hurts. It'll help your lung get stronger."

I looked down. "Okay. Thank you, sir."

"Remember: take it easy," he said, then he left.
