Two years have passed and Zain was sitting on the grass, hand in hand with Maiko, whose eyes were wandering aimlessly. These eyes which seem to see nothing, but can probably see everything.

"The night sky is beautiful, Maiko." Zain said, tightening his grip on Maiko's hand. He struggled to keep his tone steady. Zain wiped his tears with his free hand.

Maiko immediately noticed that Zain was crying. Maiko let go of Zain's hand and touched Zain's neck, then his face. He then turned to face Zain, cupping Zain's cheeks with both of his hands.

"Hey. It wasn't your fault, alright?" Maiko said, staring into what seemed like where Zain's eyes were located at. "It was just an accident."

Zain placed his head on Maiko's shoulder and cried. "I-if I was there, I-I could have protected y-you somehow. Y-you'd still be able to see!"

"Zain, it was inevitable. The window shattered because of a baseball. It just happened that I was there. If you were there, I doubt there would be much difference."

Zain went silent. "I swore I'd protect you ever since you stood up for me. At that moment, I failed."

"Hey now. Stop blaming yourself. It was an accident, okay?"

Zain tapped Maiko's lips, which made Maiko jump. Zain leans in closer to Maiko. "Can I kiss you?" he whispered.

Maiko looked away, his face red in embarrassment, then he nodded.

Their lips locked and both were surprised from the fireworks that suddenly exploded.

"Maiko, face there. You can see the fireworks, right?" Zain said the moment they broke their kiss.

Maiko's face lit up. "Yeah, it's very beautiful, even if I can't quite determine what it's supposed to be."

They both sat in silence even after the firework show stopped.

"Hey, what do you think is the reason why stars shine?" Maiko asked, facing Zain.

Zain thought about his answer. "Well, they don't always shine for me."

"What do you mean?" Maiko asked, confused.

Zain held Maiko's hand. "They only shine when I'm with you."
