Ben's POV

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Dinner is usually when I stayed quiet. They'd all speak about life, Danny would talk about school, Philip would talk about work, and Sharon would talk about the things she heard while heading to the store or whatever random thing she'd found out. However, the last few days, while hiding, no one spoke during dinner. Only one or two things said to ease the silence.

"You know, I still feed terrible that you all got drug unto this." I said. Danny looked at me.

"Ben, you know what I told you about all of that." He told me before looking back down.

"I know. But I still just... None of you deserve to have been taken from your home to help me." I sighed.

"We want to help though." Sharon said.

"I honestly should have left though. Like, before you all got pulled in. Now you're all practically in danger of a psychopath. You don't deserve this and I feel terri-"

"Dammit Ben, how many fucking times until you realize we want to help?" Danny slammed his fist down and I flinched hard.

"Daniel Robert, there is absolutely no reason you should ever speak like that, especially to him. Especially under the circumstances." She looked at him. I gently stood.

"Excuse me." I mumbled and left the room, going upstairs to my room.

Danny's POV

I watched him leave before replaying in my mind everything that happened. The way he flinched. The look in his eyes. My mum glared before I looked down and sighed.

"I'm going to check on him. And apologize." I stated and stood quickly, walking to the steps. Once outside of the room I knocked. No answer. "Ben, can I come in?"

"No." Was the reply.

"...Please... I'm sorry that I snapped." I leaned my forehead on the door.

"Please go away." He mumbled, obviously crying.

"No. I'll walk straight in if I have to." I tried the handle to find it was locked. "Okay, I'll pick the lock if I have to."

"Please dont. J-just go away." He sniffled. I reached into my pocket for my pocket knife, but it wasn't there. I'd let Ben borrow it the other day. I sighed as thoughts ran through my mind before stopping on one.

"...Ben why did you need my knife the other day?" I asked. Silence. "You need to open this door now. Please." He ignored me. I walked away from the door and to mine, looking in my stuff for anything that would work. There was nothing. I walked back to the door and tried the handle again. "Ben, please just let me in." I heard him obviously crying harder before I saw my dad walk over.

"They found his father. He's locked away. Tell him." He told me quietly. I looked at him in shock before he smiled and walked away.

"Ben they found him. Your dad is in prison. You're safe." I called through the door. The was nothing but the faint sound of his crying before the door clicked. I opened it before seeing him with the pocket knife in his hand, with something on the tip. I looked at him and gently took the knife from his hand, looking at the tip and throwing it behind me before pulling him to me.

"Danny I-" he tried.

"Don't you ever do that again. Ever. Do you hear me?" I held his shoulders and looked into his eyes. I took him from the room and made him sit in the bathroom before I went to my room and grabbed a big hoodie. I walked back and saw him sitting on the edge of the tub with his head down. "I need you to take your shirt off."

"Danny I-" I stopped him again.

"Shirt off." I said. He sighed and slowly to on the shirt off. I got a wet cloth and before looking at his arms. I gently wiped at the marks until they weren't as bad before I looked in the cabinet above the sink and found a first aid kit. I turned back around and saw him still trying to stop crying. I did this. "Ben, I am so so sorry I snapped. You didn't deserve that. I'm so sorry I made you do this."

"You didn't.... I should have listened to you when you said you wanted to help. I'm just a mess..." he sniffled. I put one of my hands on his cheek.

"We'll be home soon, so dry your eyes. You'll be okay." I whispered to him. He nodded before I opened the first aid kit and pulled out a wrap thing. I put bandages over his arms before wrapping them. When I finished, I handed him the hoodie. "My parents don't have to know unless you want them to know."  He nodded before I hugged him tightly.

"I'm sorry, Danny." He whispered.

"Its okay. You're okay." I kissed his nose and looked at him. He gently smiled before I stood up. "Come on, let's go downstairs."

"Okay." He stood with me before putting the hoodie on and following me down the steps. I saw the officer from the station standing with my dad.

"Good evening gentlemen." He looked at us. I gave him a gently smile and Ben just nodded, keeping his head down. "Ben, your father is in prison. He can't get you anymore. You're safe. However, this isn't fully over. You'll have to go to court, speak in front of a judge, tell them your side of the story, and everything else. Honestly, everyone knows how that's going to go, so you don't need to worry. The only thing you have to worry about is getting there. Mr and Mrs Worsnop,  I believe you could have that covered." He said. They both nodded. "If you want, since it's latex you can stay here tonight but feel free to go home as soon as you want." He turned and left the house. As soon as the door was closed, thin arms tightly attached themselves to me. I gasped before laughing and hugging him back. He smiled and jumped up and down.

"Oh my god." He looked at me and smiled brightly. I smiled back and hugged him again.

"Would you boys like to leave tonight or tomorrow?" Dad asked.

"Can we go tomorrow?" Ben asked me. I nodded and looked to my dad. He nodded and smiled. Ben instantly grabbed my hand and pulled me to the front door. I smiled and followed. He pulled me to the pond and sat down facing the water. "This is where the sun sets."

"Oh?" I asked him. He smiled.

"I want to watch the sun set with you." He told me and sat close. I smiled and wrapped an arm around his waist. He leaned his head on mine. I looked past the trees and watched the sun as it slowly went down.

"Do you remember last week when I told you that I enjoy song writing and that I want to be in a band?" I asked.

"Yeah." He nodded. I hesitated.

"I wrote you a song... Well, started." I told him.

"Really?" He asked. I nodded. "Could you sing it for me?" I hesitated again.

"How about after we get home and everything is settled and done with. That way when I have free time I can finish it, and then I can talk to the guys and get some actual sound with it." I told him. He nodded. I pulled him closer gently as the sun continued setting.
