Chapter 1: Gift Hall

Nanami woke up early that morning to her Aunts loud noises and a dark room. The sun hadn't risen yet and it made her usually crème colored walls look like an ugly dark crème. She moved her messy curly hair from her face and blinked a few times waiting for her eyes to adjust to the dark room.

Her room was just as she left it the night before; straight in front of her bed also aligned in the middle of the room was her wooden dresser. To the right of the dresser was the white door that let a small amount of light in through the cracks. To the left of her and her bed was her desk where her laptop laid shut. She remembered falling asleep there last night while trying to draw her manga, needless to say it didn't end well and next time she woke up she moved into her bed.

Nanami pulled the sheets off of her and stepped onto the cold hard wood floor, she walked to the foot of her bed, which was also the middle of the room, and turned towards her dresser pulling out her school clothes; just then her Aunt, Arakawa Haya, opened the door.

Nanami squinted at the bright light coming from the now opened, trying to look at her aunt. "Good you're up. Hurry and get dress, you don't want to be late for your first day of school." Haya said and winked at her.

Nanami's eyes drifted back to her dresser, she found herself with a new reason to get ready. This was her first day at Spring Arts High School, the one she had begged her aunt to accept her in. Nanami wanted to create her own manga but lacked the skills to do so, so instead she had created a folder of ideas for manga's and hoped to either finally learn to draw anime or to at least find someone who could help her produce her manga.

She placed her old-school's uniform down and picked up the new one that rested next to it. She had bought the one with white shirt and dark blue jacket, her eyes landed on the light blue skirt she was being forced to wear. She didn't really fancy wearing skirts but, at least they look good on me, she would always reason.

After getting dressed, brushing her teeth and fixing her hair she was ready to go school.

"You're not going to eat?" Haya, Nanami's aunt asked. "You're going to need it for those tests."

Nanami shook her head and smiled, "Don't under estimate me." Her aunt rolled her eyes and walked past her to open the door, and for once in her life Nanami happily followed her aunt.

The car ride to the school was quiet until the school came into view. "Are you going to be able to take me home after I finish my tests?" Nanami asked gripping her bag sitting in her lap.

Haya sighed, "Sorry I have to give the freshmen a speech, than I have to go do some paper work. You'll have to walk home, but didn't you want to check out the opening for student council?"

Nanami nodded, "I wanted to see if there was an opening for the Planning Committee."

Haya pulled the car to a stop at the front of the school, "You have about 40 minutes before your determining tests, why don't you explore a little before then?"

Nanami didn't bother to turn around and look back at her aunt to reply because by the time Haya was finished talking Nanami had already sprinted through the schools gate and into the schools yard. It was about a 20 meter walk to an about 2 meter wide fountain, then another 20 meter walk to the schools front doors. On each side of the walk way there were gardens full of trees, benches, and flowers.

There were fancy walk ways lined with arcs that took you to the back of the school where there was a base-ball field, tennis court, pool, and track. A lot of rich kids attended this school, but it was mostly for kids with special art skills, however over the years rich parents who wanted their children to become artists paid their way into this school. All the kids who had real talent, and weren't here because of their parents, live in a decent sized, two-story, house with a supervisor.
